Is there any way to make this weatherproof to continuously plug in an extension cord in outdoor environment?

I have this mounted on the outside of my enclosed trailer. When I'm not pulling it, I have an extension cord plugged into it all the time. Rain or shine. I have had no problems. Hope it helps.

Does the item come with mounting hardware?

Mine came with the cover plate as shown (it is secured by screws to the power inlet device), plus a foam gasket for the back of the plate, plus 4 standard electrical screws (I think 3/4" long) to secure the device to an electrical box. Supply your own box and wiring. Supply your own suitable alternative fasteners (screws, bolts, rivets) if you will mount directly to a wall or panel. If mounting direct to a panel, the instructions call for a 2.3" circular penetration hole with four screws at 1.9" x 3.3".

does this come in 20a

I have not found it with a 20A rating. This one, in accordance to NEC Code, can be used on either 15 or 20 A circuits. Use a 12 or 14 gauge extension cord. If you connect to a 12 gauge GFCI circuit use a 12 gauge extension cord.

As I have this mounted on the outside wall of a studio, what should it look like on the inside of the studio where the romex wire comes through?

Not knowing what the inside of your studio looks like, that’s hard to answer... if the wall is finished you shouldn’t see the wire connections...
