Coleman Palmetto Cool-Weather Sleeping Bag, 30°F Lightweight Camping Sleeping Bag for Adults, No-Snag Zipper with Stuff Sack Included

I've just received this sleeping bag in the mail, took it out, unrolled it, looked it over and felt it over, and must say I am quite pleased with this product. It looks and feels very durable and comfortable. It's also pretty easy to roll back up and put in the carrying bag. Admittedly I've not "field tested" it yet, which is why I'm giving it four stars instead of five (I'll update my review once I've tested it), but based on first impressions of this bag, I would buy this product again and suggest it to others. Update (11/13/2014): Since writing my initial review, I've had the opportunity to test this bag in colder temperatures (mid-30's) and this bag does everything it claims it does: Keeps you warm and allows you to sleep in comfort. Even in mid-30's temps, this bag was incredibly warm and in fact it was a bit too warm, as I found myself pulling down the top a bit to sleep more comfortably, but that's a good thing because it means this bag will hold up in much colder temperatures should you find yourself stranded in the woods. This is a great bag to use at home or have secured to the top of your hiking or survival bag. I'm updating my review from a 4-star to a 5-star rating because this bag deserves it. In a few years when I wear down my current bag, I'll definitely be purchasing another of the same type. Cheers to Coleman for creating such a great product.

I'm one of those people who don't like to use the heater at my house when there's more efficient ways to warm myself, so I bought this Coleman sleeping bag to sleep in during the winters in New Mexico. I've been using it each night for the past month with the temperature ranging from 25-50 degrees. Here are some things I've learned about my experience with this sleeping bag: -the ideal temperature for me with t-shirt and shorts is about 40 degrees. -with the temperature from 30-35 degrees I find it ideal to use a quilt on the outside of the sleeping bag. -temperatures from 25-30 degrees I supplement the sleeping bag with a quilt on the outside of the sleeping and another quilt just at the top where the shoulders are exposed and heat escapes. Plus I wear a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and cap. -the sleeping bag is tough to use above 45 degrees because I get too hot. A quilt or two is better. -I don't use socks and haven't had an issue with my nails or skin getting caught on the inner lining. In fact I find the material very soft and somewhat smooth, even when lying awake for an hour. -I can toss and turn without much difficulty. I don't feel constricted. -the zipper has worked very well. This sleeping bag has beat my expectations for warmth and quality, especially considering the price. I bought mine from Amazon Warehouse for $22 in very good condition. I would buy this sleeping bag again if I needed another sleeping bag for the purpose described here.

This review at the moment is based off my general first impression of this sleeping bag. I considered many other bags before making a purchase as I am getting back into camping and have a trip coming up this weekend. This sleeping bag is pretty comfortable, nice and thick. The color is not what's depicted in the stock photo but more of a blood red (think Valentine's Day heartshaped candy box). I'm actually loving the color, it's not flamboyant and it's sort of comforting as it's a muted red and not bright on the eyes. I actually decided to buy this item based off other reviewers who claimed the color was darker (which is what I wanted). The lining feels comfortable but it's the kind of material you can easily snag on your finger nails or rough skin. I would suggest moisturizing or a liner :) the sleeping bag came nicely compacted in a bag, which I had trouble returning to that state. Basically the zipper on the side which makes the bag expandable I cannot rezip. The bag however did roll nicely and will fit in the bag's extended state. I will be field testing this weekend and will follow up on it's actual performance. In the meantime I am happy with this purchase and looking forward to several camping trips this year. On a side note, Amazon rocks and shipped this (and a tent) lightening fast so now I have plenty of time to air out my new gear. ******UPDATE 08/01/2011***** So I went on my weekend camping trip up to the Catskills (NY) and I am happy to report that this sleeping bag performed great! It got very cold up in those mountains and this sleeping bag kept me warm and comfortable - slept like a baby!

This is a good bag for camping in Texas. Rarely does it drop below 40F. I bought it primarily to camp with, but to use when I moved into my home after PCS'ing from Germany. So, it's perfect. It kept me warm on those first few cold camping in the new place nights. I like the polyester outside, but not a huge fan of the feeling of the inside. It's kinda like that microfiber. Warm? Yes, catches on my dry hands. lol I know use lotion. Haha. But, I try not to touch the inside with my hands. It's warm, I've done plenty of rolling up sleeping bags, & found this one fairly easy to get back in it's carrying bag. I like the cords that keep it wound. Over all, for this military brat & gs civilian, it works well for my needs. Can't wait to head out & go camping.

I love these sleeping bags. I have had an old Coleman sleeping bag for about 20 years and there is nothing at all wrong with it but it was heavy and I was looking for a modern day comparable item. We went camping and it was about 45 degrees out, this sleeping bag kept me comfortable with long pants and socks on. That says a lot considering I am always cold, even in warm summer weather. The sleeping bag was easy to pack away, I appreciate that the storage bag has an extra gusset to give some more room when packing back into the storage bag.. The zipper is nice and smooth and the interior fabric is super soft and comfortable. My only negative is, this sleeping bag is not best for someone of above average height. My boyfriend(6'4") Tried to use this one night and it was just too short for him.

It works. Gave it to my son to use. He has used it in sub zero camping trips with minimal heating in cabin and he says it works great.

We have used these sleeping bags for 2 camping trips so far. We both love them. Now I know how to unzip & zip up easily the 2 together. Breaking them down is also easy, & they give so so much comfort. I "have it down" how to use the toggles, roll them up, & use the strings to tighten the roll up. We even just got back from tent camping in the Lake Champlain area. Most nights were above 45 degrees Fahrenheit, but one night did dip below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. We still did well sleeping in these Coleman Palmetto sleeping bags. We like the weight & feel of these bags also. I have not washed them, but have aired them out each time getting back from camping, & did take lint off of them at the same time. I would not hesitate to purchase if you were thinking of getting 1 or more of them.

I ordered three sleeping bags to try before my camping trip. I knew it would be cold overnight, so I wanted one that would keep me warm. The first one I got was too thin, the second was thick and probably would have kept me really warm, but it was bulky & heavy. This Coleman was just right! Light in actual weight, but thick enough to keep me very warm when the temps dropped into the 40s overnight. There are a couple of really clever details too, like little toggle hooks to keep the sleeping bag folded in half when you roll it up. Anyone who has struggled to stuff a fluffy sleeping into one of those tiny storage bags knows how frustrating it is when the center spirals up like a croissant at the end. The flannel lining was a bit static-y in the dry Southern CA weather, and wasn't as cozy as a cotton flannel, but for the cost, this is a really great sleeping bag.

Esta muy cómodo y calientito, lo usé para acampar en el bosque en el mes de octubre, la parte de adentro es suave y calientita, no se moja ya que la parte exterior es impermeable, aunque la zona no es extremadamente fría pero si es muy fresco durante la madrugada, no use cobijas, tuve suficiente con este sleeping, el único detalle es que como es un poco grande para mi y no se ajusta en la parte superior se cuela un poco el aire, pero en general el producto me encantó, también llego muy rápido y bien empacado.
