How sturdy is it when rising from a seating position?

I am am over 6 feet tall and weight 244 pounds. I am 76 years old and have no problem standing from a seated position using this walker. I use it in the yard on the grass and at stores. Just be sure the brake is set so it does not move while you are trying to sit or stand.  This Walker has given me back my mobility! Bill K

Can this be used as a wheelchair?

Accepted Answer

No. Would not recommend using as a wheelchair.  Your weight makes it off balance & you could tip over. Happened to me while I was sitting and my daughter tried pushing me like in a wheelchair.  Use it as a walker like it's intended use

Question 3

How much strength is needed to apply and lock the hand brakes? My 84-yo mother's balance condition and arthritis often leave her weak/fatigued.

Brakes are easy to apply. However Brakes are not reliable if it is windy or such as on a train or left untethered in an ambulate or handicapped bus. Also is back heavy so if any item to use for storage is not counter balanced below the seat or by someone sitting in it and can and has toppled forward on me while I have been walking with it. I cannot emphasize more that the brakes must be applied before siting or standing on a level surface. It will roll. I am a retired nurse and now find myself using one.

are the brakes easy to adjust,tighten..do they hold firmly when one sits on the seat?

very easy to adjust - they don't slip - and my tush feels ever so comfortable sitting on this seat. It's wider and more cushioned than most and the back rest hits in the right place. While this is a little heavier than others, the wheels are bigger, which makes it more stable on sidewalks or grassy areas. The only problem I've found so far is that the little red button can be difficult to pull when opening but seems to be getting easier and a little WD-40 helps too.
