Good for the hardcore fan
This volume remained a largely and again like v1 a straight up and direct adaptation of the anime (without the awesome ost). In any event still entertaining and pleasing to me here. I think Rock Bison manga art > anime art and Bunny has nice smiles and impressions at times. Their teamwork with the bomb scene and then the diamond one was the best for this volume. In any event I think its worthwhile purchase (and theres colour inserts at the start of the volume) for any Tiger & Bunny fan wanting more Tiger & Bunny goods in their collection.

Manga Version of "Tiger & Bunny," the Second Volume
Based on the hit animation series of the same title, the comic "Tiger & Bunny" follows the stories of crime-fighting, company-sponsored superheroes/heroines in the city of Stern Bild, including the city's first-ever superhero duo: veteran Kotetsu T. Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger, and newcomer Barnaby Brooks Jr. The problem is, Barnaby would rather fight villains alone than work with this "Old Man."In the second volume things remain the same as before, basically - the incongruous pair of super-powered heroes Tiger and Bunny, fighting the city's criminals with other super-powered heroes/heroines - except that this time the past of the two heroes, especially Bunny's, is focused. In several scenes Barnaby's motive for wanting to become a hero is suggested.Mizuki Sakakibara, whose style is a bit closer to those of American comic illustrators than Japanese counterparts, provides fine illustrations, though some of those who have enjoyed the anime series might disagree with some changes done to the scenes and the lines of the original. The story keeps a brisk pace, with a few action set-pieces and some flashbacks that are not too long. Supporting characters are given some space, but not enough to shine. I for one would like to know much more about other Stern Bild's superheroes (Blue Rose in particular) than about Barnaby, but still the book is an entertaining read.

Volume Two
I adored Vol. 1 and was a little disappointed with this one as it wasn't very funny, while I found vol. 1 hilarious. Vol. 2 takes a different turn and spends more time on character development, especially Bunny. Through flashbacks we get to know about his past which ends up being a vital plot point as it leads to the plot of vol. 3. We also get to know more about Wild Tiger's home life and his daughter. The duo has some major clashes and at this point I like them both. Tiger is older, more mature and taking it all in his stride. Bunny has real personality issues but the peep into his past makes me more forgiving. Bunny's nickname is firmly affixed by the end of this volume. There is also a major case that all of the superheroes turn up for involving a bad guy made out of diamonds, here the duo learns that teamwork actually pays off. Heroes Blue Rose and Fire Emblem are given some character time also. The publisher rating (13+) is over cautious and I'm still recommending for 10+; there are a couple of mild swear words.

KEEP READING IT AND YOU WILL SEE THAT IT'S A GOOD SERIES
When this first came out I was extremely excited to see the writers expand their horizons on the series itself, and I'll have to admit, finding any information on the development of the series at all has had to become a pet project than a search. Probably because bringing the series to the American audience is very taxing on the creators (whom I applaud for even trying to make the leap). The different arc is not directly centered. It needs to be for the series to keep on going. Right now later in the series it is centered on Jake Martinez's past when it was on the NEXT's acceptance of their differences (a la X-Men variety) but it took 8 volumes to realize that. The writers are being very safe and guarded with the plot line (which I don't blame them for) but dedicated fans would like to see them take risk or relate something new. Most fans are too busy trying to support the series, like other small franchises (US-wise, in Japan this is/was huge I know), but this story speaks volumes if people could see past a cover.I give this five stars out of respect for the creators, the excellent artwork and the story altogether, but I would SERIOUSLY like to see something for it later in this manga series, and not another filler plot on how Jake is 'rocking the boat', Tiger steps in, funny quips/lines, and we do it all again. This is all fans of the series have to look forward to if the 'live movie' thing doesn't go through. Fans loved to see this series because it took serious risk and ran with it. Dedicated fans would love it if they did it one more time, and it's just worth making. =^w^=
