A gem of a book for gardeners or cooks and those of us who love to do both!
Great recipes with personal stories interwoven. A real delight to read if you love gardening and preparing interesting meals with what you grow. Also the book I received was used but in like-new condition and a bargain at $11. Great read!

So wonderfully written and so inspiring
A copy of this book was loaned to me from a friend and I fell in love after only a few pages. So wonderfully written and so inspiring. This book inspired me to build a lovely potager in my back yard and I can't wait to grow all of the lovely ingredients contained with in this book. Inspires patience for the gardener and the cook. A must have in this busy world we live in.

It's such a delight to read and use!
I purchased this book as a gift for my wife, who is an avid gardener and cook. She is also an voracious reader who loves a good story. As a budding writer herself, she has described this book to me with this glowing comment, "It's such a delight to read! I can't put it down until I finish the chapter!!" I've come to trust her literary instincts over the years and must say that if she says it's great, then it is. Each of the 5 star reviews explain it far better than I ever could, but trust me when I say that it is worth your time and money to get this book.

More than a cookbook, though the recipes and directions are great. Nice insight into the life of the geographical and cultural setting in which the book is set. It can be read one season at a time, as one's own calendar changes, as a way of highlighting recipes that take advantage of the changing availability of vegetables and meat.

More than a Cookbook!
I am a reader of "cook books." This is exactly the kind I love, lots of story to accompany the recipes.I look for location and character in the novels I read and this, obviously non-fiction, book has both. And, the recipes are arranged by season, which I appreciate.Very enjoyable.
