Seams glued and blind-stitched, pre-formed design for fit. 2mm thickness for warmth, protection and durability. Rugged "sharkskin" palms for sure grip. Adjustable wrist strap for snug fit. Review: The Best Outdoor Gloves - SEVENTEEN years ago, I got a pair of these gloves as a gift, and they turned out to be the best outdoor gloves I ever owned. The elasticity of the glove allows for snug fit, and because it is pre-shaped, great dexterity is possible. The surface texture of the palms and fingers gives outstanding grip. You can pick up a single sheet of paper, small bolts and screws, or even coins. They comfortably grip tools and handles. The gloves really are waterproof too. They wouldn't last for abrasive jobs like handling concrete blocks or rough lumber, but they are very durable otherwise. On single-digit temperature days they aren't warm enough for long exposure, so break out the mittens or ski gloves for that, but on most days these are my go-to gloves. When my first pair finally gave out this year, I immediately replaced them, even though they aren't cheap. What does that tell you? Review: Sizing............. - The gloves run very small.....so order at least one size larger than you normally would.

Fantastic!
Had to replace a worn out pair. These are great. Fast turn around thanks! Happy holidays to all and have a merry Christmas. Trust in Jesus.

Sad when a product had such high quality now is ...
The quality of Stearns has taken a nose dive. I had an older pair that lasted for years. This new pair fell apart at the seams with light use in just about a month! I wish I had listened to the review here earlier from a gentleman in law enforcement that had the same experience. Do not buy these but order the Glacier brand instead as I just put them through a hard day in the cold and they performed well. Sad when a product had such high quality now is not worth the money.

great idea
I live in New Hampshire and it gets a little cold sometimes during the winter season. I bought these gloves for working in our cold wet weather while blowing snow. Each pair will last between one and two snow seasons and they keep my hands warm enough while running the snow blower in temperatures around zero Fahrenheit and still give me the dexterity to work all the handles and buttons and such. I am usually even able to use screwdrivers, wrenches, and battery operated vibrators too. When it gets too cold I just slip a pair of mittens over them and when I need the dexterity just slip off the mittens, do what I need to do and slip the mittens back on. I have tried a lot of gloves but I cannot find anything better for the job.

Weak Seam
Recently purchased these gloves as a result of the storms in the Northeast this year. Used them today, 02/21/2011 while shoveling and clearing snow. The seam between the thumb and fore finger on the right hand seperated creating a hole. I have worked with Stearns equipment as a Police Officer I have used the Ice Rescue suit which is why I purchased the Stearns gloves. This is obviously a great disappointment. Frank J Kiernan

Great for motorcycling
I bought these at a motorcycle rally 10 years ago. They told me that they were scuba diving gloves. I can't verify that but it looks like the same material that wetsuits are made from; foam-like, but tougher. The fingers are precurved, in the natural relaxed position of your hand. They are excellent outdoor cold & wet weather gloves. I ordered a large (my usual size)& they fit very snug if not too snug.(I think they are supposed to be snug) If you are between sizes, maybe order the next size up. All I use them for is dirt bike riding in the fall months, so I can't comment on how durable they are. When I need another pair, I would buy these again definatley..

These tore really quickly right along the seam. I think he wore them three times and they tore while he was shoveling snow. I had boght them so he could wear while he was lobsterfishing, but they ripped before he was able to get on the boat with them
