EXCELLENT!!! YES... RINGER VOLUME CAN BE ADJUSTED!!!!
I am very pleased with this phone system. It has a large easy to read screen and large buttons. I love the photo speed dial and call blocker functions. It is very easy to set up. Out of the box the ringer is very loud, but IT CAN be adjusted to a lower level by going through the prompts on the cordless handset. It does have a built in answering machine as well. Phone calls sound crystal clear and you can even boost the sound while on a call or slow down the caller's message while listening to your voice messages on the answering machine which is excellent especially while trying to jot down any notes or phone numbers that the caller leaves. You can even program in reminders for yourself. I have the corded/cordless system and also purchased the extra photo handset extention which works flawlessly with this system. I may get the pendant in the future. I have Voip over service from vonage and all features work great with it including call blocker. I highly recommend this phone system for not just the senior and disabled community, but for anyone who wants an easy to use phone system with large display and excellent sound quality. Also, I was not offered any free incentives for leaving this review. I paid full price for it and I would do it do it again in a heartbeat .💗 💗💗

Great phone with a few issues
A great phone so far but with a few changes would be even better. Easy to set up but takes a while to program numbers into Phonebook and Photo buttons. Does ring loud enough. 1. Need the ability to disable the ‘Block call’ button on phone and hand set. I thought this would be a great phone for my elderly parents with dementia but the first call I made to them, my Mom accidentally blocked my number by hitting the block call button. No instructions on how to unblock phone numbers but I did figure out a way around by changing the unblocked phone number in Blocked calls. I really like the Smart Block feature which only allows calls through from numbers in her ‘Phonebook’. Mom was getting each day so many Medicare, Warranty, and other scam calls. 2. Not a show-stopper but the ability to record names in your own voice within the Phonebook would be great. The automated pronunciation of the typed name doesn’t exactly pronounce who’s calling clear enough. Do love the feature of announcing the caller. 3. I programmed the phone to ring 6 times before going to the answering machine but still only rings 4 times. I may just end of turning off the answering machine since not sure if my parents can figure out how to reviewing the messages anyways. 4. Photo buttons need to be larger. My parents do not make calls except via the photo buttons and have a little trouble seeing the faces. I had to make a list for them of who each photo button was. They really do not dial phone numbers any longer.

No speakerphone
I bought this for my elderly mother with dementia who is also in a wheelchair. I liked that there was a corded and a cordless phone, but it lacks some critical features that mean I'll have to return it. There is no speakerphone and she thinks there is, so has to be reminded to hold the phone to her mouth so we can hear her. There are multiple call screening options but you cannot hear the message being recorded on the answering machine so I don't see how screening would work. And then she can't figure out which button plays the messages so she will never hear them. The light indicating there is a message is small, flashes, and is next to the answer on/off button, so she will naturally just turn it off when trying to play a message. There is a large red light at the top that would have made more sense as the message indicator, but all it indicates is that the phone is in use. The functions are difficult to set up and you have to select several buttons to see the caller ID, so she would never be able to check calls herself. I thought the call blocking features would be nice, but they are too complicated. Since some require her to pick up the phone and push a number to allow the call, she could never figure that out. And the sound quality when calling her is bad and full of static.

Works
It was fairly easy to program the one touch dialing and insert pictures or names. It loud enough that she she can hear and understand more than she could with the old phone. There is no caller ID on the base phone, and no picture dialing on the the cordless handset. There is M1, M2, M3, M4 on the cordless that an older person with dementia can’t understand those buttons. All in all, it’s pretty good but not perfect

A Good Start
The Good: Large buttons, volume control. Cordless handset with the ability to add more handsets and other wireless accessories like emergency call buttons. Quick dial buttons with ability to stick pictures on them. The concept for a phone for seniors is in there. The Bad: Not as easy as it should be for seniors to use, but is better than others. Programming is not intuitive for the non tech saavy. button/light placement needs rework, the blinky light letting you know you have messages should be next to or above the play button, not located elsewhere on the phone face making people think that they should be pressing a different button to play messages. Needs more quick dial buttons. The Ugly: OMG! That voice. that voice is so hard to understand. My 87 year old mother, whom I got the phone for, cannot understand the female voice that is programmed into the unit. Even I have a hard time understanding, and it just gets worse when you turn up the volume. For one thing, there needs to be a selection of different voices as not everyone has the same frequency range for hearing. In addition to the female voice, there needs to be a male, and several selections of female and male. volume is not enough, also needs adjustments to control other aspects of the voice like tone. For another thing, the programming for the pronunciation NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. Some words are fine, but many others are not even close, and I'm talking about common words. I do not expect the phone to be able to pronounce oddball words like medical terminology. Also needs a lot of work with correct pronunciation of the letters of the alphabet. It took me, with decent hearing, forever to figure out that whenever the phone was saying "avoodavay", it was actually saying "double u" and "aye" for the state abbreviation "WA". Overall, the concept for a phone for seniors to be able to use is there, BUT needs a lot of work before going into production. Oops, too late, already in production.

Great phone for Hard-of-hearing seniors
I bought the VTech SN5147 phone for my great-aunt, and it's been fantastic for her, mainly because she's hard of hearing. Easy to Use: The big buttons and clear screen are helpful. She finds it easy to dial and see who's calling. Loud and Clear: The sound is amplified so she can hear everything better. No more asking people to repeat themselves! Corded and Cordless: It's great that it has a corded phone and a cordless handset. Answering Machine: The answering machine is easy for her, so she never misses a message. Overall: This phone is a big help for seniors with trouble hearing. It's made a massive difference for my great-aunt. I have yet to put pictures on the speed dial buttons, and I am sure she would be delighted to use the buttons after setup.

Not suitable for use in UK without an adapter
Phone looked lovely and I’m sure it would have worked well, but it came with a 2 pin plug and so we returned it as we are in the uk

Good sound.
This phone has some great features - the picture quick dial option and the audio assist. I bought it for my 86 year old mom and although she liked it she found the cordless portion much too large for her hand and had trouble adjusting the audio assist on it. She made me return it even though the family all thought it was great! I would suggest if buying for a senior family member buy it earlier on in the aging!!

Made for American market, you need to buy extra electrical adapters (x2) and a special phone plug.
A trial to get working for my disabled (blind) 98 year old Mum who needed it asap. For the high price I expected better. As with all reviews, it is difficult to assess because we haven't had it long, ask me again in 6 months(?) Looks like its picture!!
