Perfect Size for Tailgating and Small Backyard Cooks, Heats Up Fast for a Portable Grill
Bought this for tailgating mostly, wanted something smaller then our full size kettle grill that's still easy enough to toss in the truck without taking up half the trunk. Also figured it'd be handy for quick weeknight grilling when firing up the big grill feels like overkill for a couple burgers. Assembly was quick, maybe fifteen minutes out of the box including attaching the legs and wheel, nothing complicated about putting it together. Charcoal gets going fast once lit, had it ready to cook on within twenty minutes or so using a chimney starter, heat holds steady enough for a solid burger and hot dog session without constant fussing with vents. Size is genuinely a good middle ground, bigger then those tiny portable grills that barely fit anything, but small enough to actually load in the truck bed or trunk without rearranging everything else. Lid fits snug and the vents work as expected for controlling airflow, nothing flimsy about the build despite it being the lighter, portable version of Weber's kettle line. For the price, you're getting genuine Weber build quality in a smaller footprint rather then some off brand portable grill that rusts out or warps after a season, real value if you want something reliable without paying full size kettle prices. Only complaint is the grate spacing is a little tight for really big cuts of meat, works great for burgers and dogs but a whole rack of ribs would be a squeeze. Great portable option, would buy again for tailgating season.

It’s a Beauty: Durable and Spacious Grill
This is a very spacious and nice grill. I was shocked at how large it is , expecting to have one I can only assume is the size of the smoky joe. I was able to cook an entire rack of ribs and two steaks with plenty of room. Later I put an aluminum tin filled veggies and the lid closed with absolutely no problem . The kettle style is not only useful for things like tins in the grill but It is really nice looking. This grill works well even if you don’t have a table. I cooked on the ground. I wish the arm for holding the lid had a better way to be tucked away when not in use because I’ve been scratched by it trying to move it around a few times. It is a very durable grill. It has a free warranty for 10 years. I had an issue with my lid that was very minor and noticed it the first day. Rather than return my purchase I contacted customer service and Weber has already mailed me out a new one. They are amazing and nice! If you are looking for portability, the ability to grill for a group, and a nice looking grill, this is your grill. The enamel process that they used for the finish is not like cheap paint on other grills. The finish does not peel or have any issues when heated. I just wish it had a carrying bag like the Smoky Joe. Currently there isn’t one large enough for this big boy.

Versatile and good for everyday cooking or travel
This Weber is the perfect size for grilling pork/lamb chops, steaks, and sausages for a typical growing family of 4 to 6 people. It has 18" of cooking space, which is larger than the smokey Joe model (at 14"), and the grilling grate sits a little higher from the coals than the Smokey Joe and I prefer cooking that way. Compared to the standard 22" Weber grill, you will only need about half as much coal to cook the items that I've mentioned above, and that's a big saving if you like to grill regularly for the family. I also own the 22" model and I use that only when we have guests and I need to cook a lot of meat, or if I'm grilling whole chickens, other legs/shoulders or lamb or pork, or ribs. I would not cook whole cuts of meat in this 18" model since it would be a challenge to keep the temperature reflecting from the lid down, and you'd probably end up burning the meat from the top, and also from the sides since the meat would be sitting too close to the coals, even if you were to push the coals to the sides of the grill. The other things that I love about this grill is that the latching mechanism that keeps the lid tightly locked when not in use, and also serves as the lid holder during cooking. It also allows for very safe and easy transportation. Very convenient and useful.

Great small grill for small areas! I love it!
Perfect for a small patio area. The grilling area is 18", so it's plenty big enough for a small area. I was able to cook 8 burgers easily at once. It's light enough to move around, and has a nice feature that locks the lid and makes it easily portable.

Definitely a step up from the standard smokey joe
I've used the regular Smokey Joe as my standard camping/travel grill for years and I love it. However, now that I've used this one, I can never go back. We almost always do a Tri-tip or roast of some kind when we go camping and I could just baaaaarely fit it in there. Trying to cook over indirect heat (so having enough room where your roast isn't directly over the coals) was nearly impossible and required a lot of fiddling around with the coals to get it to work. It also was tricky to get it to cook evenly as the inside of the lid would invariably touch the top of the roast in a couple places. I realize most people use the Smokey Joes for a couple of hamburgers or some dogs (and for that, they work perfectly) but I'm rather ambitious when it comes to my camping cuisine. This grill gives you substantially more space, closer to what you get on the full 22.5" grill , yet feels nearly as compact as its smaller predecessor. As a very nice bonus, the metal bar you see in the picture that goes over the whole grill serves 2 purposes to great effect: it holds the lid off to the side for you so you don't have to find somewhere safe to put a large 500 degree piece of metal when you need to rotate or retrieve your food (so for most people who are using this while traveling, that can be an issue) and it also swivels up to snap in place over the lid's handle, which holds it on securely for transport. The build quality is up to the usual high standard Weber is known for. So to sum up, if you want a nice, convenient portable charcoal grill that's 90% as good as the full sized Weber one has in their backyard, you need look no further. If all you want is to be able to cook 3 or 4 burger patties though, you'll do just fine with the standard Smokey Joe. Highly recommended!

good size and some great concepts for such a small grill
I just didn't want a big roll around grill, but still wanted a decent size cooking area. This fits the bill. Along with that they have a neat handle holder as well as the handle then doubles to lock the lid down for travel, but wait, don't buy yet! Then while grilling, the handles folds out of the way to become a holder for the lid so you aren't looking for somewhere to set the lid down. Good ingenuity. On the downside, the lip on the base of mine was dented (about the size of a silver dollar) so the lid doesn't seal completely. Not that the dent is a huge deal, but you can see it happened at the factory as they painted over it. Just seems like poor quality control. Other than that, easy to assemble, good grilling area, great heat adjustments, and great portability.

Best Grill for the money. Provin winner
I have used Weber Charcoal Grills for over 40 years. They are the best grills I have ever owned. They are well worth the money. I have tried pricier grills. But, I alaways come back to Weber. Controlling heat and airflow are the keys to good cooking. That is where Weber shines

It's a WEBER... GREAT BRAND!
What can I say, it's a Weber 18" grill.... Awesome as always and feels very sturdy and larger than I thought!

awesome bbq
Solid, good construction materials, clear instructions. The space between the two grills is short so go easy on the charcoal otherwise you'll have too much heat and burn everything.

So macht Grillen spass
