Good, but not good enough
As an avid spectator and player of Snooker, I was compelled to buy this game to substitute for when I can't get to the green beize myself. So come on, it's snooker. It has all you would expect from a snooker game.So I'll tell you what I think is wrong with the game:The angles at which you find you can pot at are alarming to say the least. I think you will find even the professionals can't pot the black from the "D", whereas my 9 year old sister manages to do it 99% of the time on this game. This leads to a far deal of frustration as it removes the need for a good white ball position - seeing as you can pot anything from virtually anywhere. What's wrong with the ball when it hits the cushions?? It sounds and reacts like it's hit a plate of wood. You can even get back to baulk from the break because the ball dies on the cushion. If you try to apply side to the ball, it usually results in you missing the pot or miscuing! Come on, applying small amounts of side does not affect the path of the ball and you don't see many professionals miscuing because of it.The commentary is quite poor, why is John Virgo telling me to clear the pink ball from the cushion when its in the middle of the table and I'm on the yellow? This happens far too many times and becomes annoying very quickly.I think that this is the best Snooker game so far, but there is a long way to go before it compares to the real thing.

W.C.S. 2003 - the great game
What a game! Beats all other snooker games by far. Shame About the look ofsome players (Peter Ebdon). I'm reletivly new to the PS2 but the graphicsare mint and arenas (crucible theatre)look the same as in real life. Badlook that this sight takes a long time to send the game. It keeps ondelaying as it is out of stock.

Great Sim
When i first picked up my mates version of the game on the x-box i was apprehensive to say the least. however after about 5 minutes i was hooked. the graphics supporyt the game well and the ball physics are excellent. the good thing is you dont even have to be a fan of the sport to have fun. i do agree with some people that the AI is often too difficult but i just view it as a challenge. this game has an infinite life span and is well worth getting. i have bought it on PS2 and i have found that it is just as good as the x-box version. so go and buy it because it is a solid investment of your hard earned cash!!!

The definative snooker game, result!
Being a keen snooker fan myself I was excited to see this game was being released. I had played the previous titles and enjoyed them a lot, and this promised to be an improvement. I was not let down. I wont go on too much about the mini-games as I never play them, but the 8-ball and 9-ball pool options are welcome additions. The career mode is where it's at though, play through season after season, in a number of various tournaments including the Embassy World Championship, trying to get to that elusive number one ranking in the world. The look and feel of the game is good, get too engrossed and you may actually think you're really playing the deciding frame in the crucible for the World Championship! On the downside though, the player animations could do with some improvement and the some of the camera angles are questionable as I often find I need to go into 'birds eye view' to see how my shot does. These are minor hiccups though, nothing to whinge about too much. The players are there, though there is a lack of some of the real top 16, the O'Sullivan's, Doherty's, Ebdon's, Williams', Higgins', Hendry's and co are there. The create-a-player mode is good and another useful addition in this game is the opportunity to buy new clothes, cues, tables and unlock new venues with your prize money. In conclusion, if you're a die-hard snooker fan, or even if you just have a passing interest in the game, I would recommend this game to you. It is not the 'perfect' snooker game yet, but playing this you get the feeling that it's not too far off. Roll on WCS2004!!
