Yes! My seven year old daughter loves it. It's a bit too hard for her to build but very simple for my eleven year old, so I think nine would be a great age. :)

Hey, it would keep a 4 yr old entertained for a while, the helicopter may be a little complicated but its pretty simple and fun to play with

I learned to use the age specifications on the box. The Lego company is very good at this. Legos should be fun and rewarding. If it's to hard for them they won't want to do it again. They do have for every age, all the way to grown up.
