Good for for the price but you need soles
I've been wearing these almost everyday for roughly 3 months, they do not come with insoles but for the price I bought a set of Georgia boot insoles, with the new insoles and about a 2/3 week break in period they are extremely comfortable with an aggressive tread good for outdoor use, the leather does seem to be treated, giving it a decent amount of water resistance but also gives it a somewhat plastic feel but definitely appears to be genuine leather. Be warned that the leather will definitely crease at the toes so if you want boots that will look new ten years from now you'll need to spend more money, overall I think 4 out of 5 for bang for your buck, for a well performing outdoor boot, I would easily give it a 5 if they came with decent soles.

I wear a 10.5 and they do not have half size. Chart and most people say buy 1 size down. I tried a 10. Sent it back cause still to large. Got a 9. Worked great. Bought Dr. Scholl's work boot inserts. Also worked great. Bought boot conditioner to help break them in and after about 2 weeks they wear like my sneakers. Alot of people complain about the smell and yes they do smell like rubber when you first get them. I just put them in the sun for the day and it was gone that evening. First pair I ever had were American made and lasted about 6 years. These are made from China, but half the cost of the real deal. We'll see soon enough I guess. All in all Iike them so far.

So far so good
I wear size 9.5 in normal shoes and hiking boots. I ended up with size 8.0wide in these boots to fit properly. Weird. The boots are also terrible without any insole, so after trying a handful of various insoles, which would effect my fit to be too danged tight, I ended up finding a thin, but strong flat foam dr sholes insoles that work perfectly in them. The soles are holding up except a half inch section along the inside of my right foot which look like they are beginning to separate. I've been using them for bushhogging, tilling, yardwork, and gardening, and also wearing them to work. With the little thin insoles and a good pair of darn tough socks, they are awesome.

Good boot quality
The boots are very well made and exactly like those I wore in the military years ago. They do run big though, about a size. I wear a 13 but a 12 would have been better.

Just what she wanted
They were a gift for my wife she loved them. She neuropathy and these helped her a lot. She said they were very comfortable.

Good quality control makes a big difference.
I tempered my judgement of size expectations based on the knowledge that feet get a bit wider as we age. Wipe that smirk off your face, you ain't getting any younger. Way back, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I was a consistent 8W or 9R so I ordered the 8W and they are a bit tight in width. I have confidence that these will stretch enough to be truly comfortable. This is only minor and proper jungle boot first-wearing and break-in procedures have prevented any serious soreness.First serious wearing fill the boots with fresh water, allow to drain through the drain holes slowly for several minutes, dump the excess, put them on laced tighter than normal, go for a long walk. If you take them off and they are still moist, remove any insoles so they can dry. After wearing wet, use a good shoe polish as this nourishes the leather and helps prevent cracking. A light smear of neatsfoot oil is the gold standard for keeping leather soft but don't use too much or too often as it can become an oily mess or stretch too much. Never use any heat more powerful than sunlight to dry them.Hint: These units have no insoles so form-fitted cushion insoles are a good idea for dry conditions and hiking on hard surfaces. Insoles with stiff plastic blades help with arch support. If you are going to be in a lot of water it pays to find a pair of Saran mesh insoles. They maintain an air-gap and help drain the water so the boots and feet dry quickly. Surplus Army Warehouse sells them by the dozen cheap as "GI Insoles 8R 12 Pairs". They are not designed to add cushioning, just to get air under the foot to aid air circulation and prevent rot. Original GI issue boots in the 70s and 80s, jungle and regular, came with these "shredded wheat" insoles. They help a lot in any boot if it is hot or wet.Note on quality: Of three manufacturers of these boots I have experience with the Rothco version seems far superior. The quality of materials is nearly identical from all manufacturers. As far as I know they could all be manufactured in the same plant and they look the same. The differences are mainly a matter of quality control inspection and rejecting items with small but serious flaws. A set of "Mil-spec" boots I bought from SG is typical. The left boot is well put together and seemingly quite durable. The right had the heel come unattached after a very few miles of light walking. Same materials, perhaps the Rothco sole is a bit better moulding and it sports a brand impression, but the non-Rothco boots are hit-or-miss on how they are put together. If you are lucky you get a good boot. If not ... Note that the difference is not necessarily easy to spot. The defective heel joint on the "Mil-spec" SG boot was smeared with some sort of black caulk to disguise the loose joint and looked only a bit sloppy, but otherwise okay. Six miles of light walking later and a quarter-inch gap had opened up and the heel was starting to flap. Live and learn.Along that same line the Rothco boots seams at the sole look tight and neat, a good sign, but I will only know for sure in time. After a dozen miles they are still solid. Jungle boots are not for everyone. The soles are thinner and more flexible than most boots. They are a more than adequate 5/16" at their thinnest but feel more like athletic shoes than boots. There are also 9 eyelets on each side. Next time I might swing for the speed-laces.

Solid for price point
I bought them to have a cheap pair of boots I could abuse on off-trail camping trips. They’ve held up so far, and they can be decent, comfortable boots, but only if you do a few things. First, the smell: good god, these things smell coming out of the box. To get rid of that, chuck them in a bucket, pour some vinegar in, and let them soak for a while. Dump it out, and do it a second time if the smell is still there. Wash them off with water, and let them air out. The vinegar smell will be there for a couple of days, but it’s not half as bad as the factory smell, and will go away. They need some breaking in, too. Mine took a few weeks of hard wear to become comfortable, and now they’re just how I like them. The boots are sized to be worn with very thick socks, so you’ll want to either wear thick hiking socks, two pairs of normal socks, or a set of insoles with these. Do all those things, and these are comfortable boots that stand up to a bit of abuse out in the woods. Are they deluxe boots that will last you the better part of a decade’s hard wear? No. Are they decent footwear for a very low price? Yes, provided you get rid of the smell, use thick socks as was intended when they were designed, or pop in some insoles. Would it be unrealistic to expect much better for the price these come at? Probably.
