Practice, Practice, and more practice.
First of all, i am not even close to calling myself a pro. I am still learning, but it is fun and interesting. This is my second MD, what i like the most about the Land Ranger Pro are the 7 different pre-set modes. The next would be the pin-pointing feature. My first MD did not have these features because it was a entry level model that only cost me $ 150.00 here on amazon. I just recently purchased this MD so I haven't had that much time learning/practicing, nor have i used it out in public yet. I have been learning the ropes on metal detecting with my new Land Ranger Pro in my own backyard. I'm thankful that i have a huge backyard with nearly 50 yrs of my Family's history, so to speak, hiding underground (trash, bottle caps, foil, nails, and yes coins). The two most interesting finds are the 3 Arras gold-colored coins (aka Unity Coins). I admit, at first i thought i had found "GOLD COINS" so much that i created a gold-finding dance, unfortunately an hour later i had to semi-retire my new dance. The next item found in my backyard was a WWII Air Crew Pin Badge (sterling silver). None of my immediate family members had any info on who it may have belonged to. I am still hopeful i will find the center piece of that pin badge, which was the 10kt part (according to images on google). I believe i made the right choice in buying this LPR because the capabilities of this MD are on par with my intermediate skills. Wont be long now for me to be leaving the nest, so to speak (backyard). When i do, i will be ready to "break-out my gold dance." I have included a pic of those 2 interesting finds.

Totally worth it. Please sponser me. @bountyhunter
Well, I've had my LRP for about six-months now, and it has been working way better than I expected. I use it everywhere too. Even at the beach, with the coil up to 1.5 feet in the salt water. Now, it takes some tuning to use it there, but if you're looking for a great entry-level machine, I can certainly recommend this one. It's great on the beach sand. It makes noise sometimes, especially when sweeping from dry sand to wet sand, but if you take some time to learn the machine, it'll work pretty well on the beach. On the beach and on land, I can nearly 100% of the time predict the coin I'm on, or even tell if it's a pop top, or a tab that someone broke off a can. You have to dig those too though. They rig up too similar to gold rings. I can detect a coin to at least 8 inches, and probably more if I changed the settings a bit. It's been a great detector so far. Though I'll upgrade to a machine that I can swim with, I'll be holding onto this one for friends, and as a backup.*Update: So I've now joined the Central Florida Metal Detectors Society, and at the most recent monthly meeting, I got first place in two-categories with items found with the Land Ranger Pro. I know it really burned some of the people with much more expensive detectors.@bountyhunter Please sponsor me. I've got your machine down.*Another update: Just found my first silver dime, or, "Rosie." Stoked. I'd recommend getting a quality pin pointer. Get a Garrett, Minelab, or Nokta Marko pin pointer, and it'll make your life much easier and efficent whilst hunting.

LRP. I dig it!
The media could not be loaded. I am going to test the machine out more...being its likely me that's not understanding how to work the machine correctly and I'm still trying to listen for the solid hits... So far it seems to be doing great...very light weight and easy to use. I found a few objects but nothing with old coins just yet.I thought it was me, not reading a signal correctly, or where to find the actual target , but I see on youtube some of the " best " Detectorist, have to re find a target sometimes even after they have popped their first plug, and so that gives me a little hope that I'm not the only one. The LRP seems to be an improvement over the other Bounty Hunters I have used 6-7 years back. My first detector was a Bounty Hunter, and I boughtand traded under the same brand so I decided to stick it out with BH. ( Just like the initials of my name, I dig it!") I have had the Fast tracker (sold it)the Quick Silver ( Sold it and used the money to get the Pioneer 202, which I later gave away) I fell out of the metal detecting hobby after a few years and found many interesting relics. But after I saw the Land ranger Pro, my interest in MDing rekindled and so far , even though I haven't hit on any old coins , I'm not gonna abandon the hobby. I just need to get out and find , or get permissions in older places where relics may be located.

Worth the money
This is the first time i've used a mid range metal detector. I checked the ratings for a while and searched for something that would give me the most for my money. This is quite the machine. I'm still learning how to use it, but I've already found some artifacts from a logging company that owned my property back in 1907. I found a hook from a singletree and part of a dray that they used to pull logs out of the woods with horses. For me that's as exciting as some of the guys i've seen on videos who find gold rings. A piece of history if you will. Of course i found enough junk like pop tops and aluminum cans but i've just started. I am looking forward to getting a pinpointer so i can locate those elusive little items that get lost. but as far as little is concerned i did find a quarter inch lock washer. So it picks up items well. As far as money on the beach? I did find a penny in about a foot of water. Lol. Laughed hard at that one. So it does work well in shallow water. Didn't spend a lot of time at the beach. Just wanted to try it out there. I'd say it's worth every penny i paid for it. Read the instruction manual and check out the different features. I don't think you will be disappointed.
