Mirai [Standard Edition]

A superb effort to portray some of the thoughts and feelings a young child might experience. I think that the film is remarkable in how accurately these experiences and emotions are portrayed. The plot devices used to explore the perspectives of several different characters are rather charming and clever. I certainly came received several insights into my own experiences in life through watching this film. It was somewhat therapeutic in some regards.

The film itself is a beautiful tale of family and childhood. Die hard fans of Hosoda or this film should certainly buy this set before it is sold out (only 1000 available). Lots of extra contents including a CD containing the soundtrack, a book on the making of the film, a poster, and five art cards.

This is well drawn and a pretty good story of which a lot of people can relate to, it does however need the viewer to have a good imagination to follow the daydreams of Kun, Mirai's big brother. Watched it twice so far and will watch it again.

So good. Japanese animated movies are so much better than american ones these days. My only criticism is that I would have liked it if Mirai no Mirai had a bigger role.

First off I highly recommend this edition over a standard version you get LOADS of extras and at £24 its a bargain The film follows the experience of being the first child and at a young age getting a sister who takes what they perceive to be their love and attention. Featuring fantastical elements as a learning experience to help him grow. P.S I also recommend the Light Novel (Written by Hosoda) which explains things like the introduction in much greater detail

I love this film it has just the right blend of fantasy whimsy and hard hitting reality. It does not gloss over the struggle of modern parents but depicts it with warmth and wisdom its very relatable!! Also the jumps between past and present are smoothly handled and make sense in the context of the film plus its quite funny in its own quirky and sardonic way i love the mother she can be both angsty bitchy tender and humble and all at the same time!! Brill film all the family loved it and just as an aside i actually quite liked the soundtrack i found it really catchy!!

A film that will make you laugh and cry when you connect the dots of the many stories told throughout and go on a trip through a family tree of history from the perspective of a child. As a long time fan of Hosoda I was expecting the time travel elements to be pushed a little further but it finds a comfortable middle ground between fantasy and slice of life. I felt like it was over too soon as it ended before anything felt truly resolved and I would liked to have spent a little more time with the characters.

The description of the storyline on the back cover makes this look to be a good film so I bought it as a Christmas Present for someone who collects films on DVD - Blu-Ray & 3D formats.

Mamoru Hosoda is better than Miyazaki. And I LOVE Miyazaki! Mirai moves a little slow and it took a little patience to watch things unfold, but it was so worthwhile for the building of the odd and mysterious events into a climax that presents you with consideration of ideas that just aren't tackled in any other films. True to all of Hosoda's films, he presents you with a situation that causes you to step back and really consider the definition and impact that family has in new and revealing ways. At it's core Mirai is about reconsidering your understanding of the bigger picture and the meaning of your place in the string of humans who brought you into this world, who exist around you and influence you as you live and grow, and even the impact you will have as life is passed on from you to future generations. Every personality and every tiny, insignificant decision ripples out into the tapestry of who you and others become. I think we all need to step back and think about what has been passed into us, and what we will pass on to others. Watch it. Watch all of Hosoda's films. I absolutely love them all.

Sensei Mamoru Hosoda è una certezza. Anche quest'anime come i precedenti ( edi successivi) ottimo. Ottima sceneggiatura, ottimo character design. Da vedere sicuramente
