(UPDATED) Simple-Effective-Fits S&W .38 Special Lady Smith Snub Nose Revolver
UPDATE: Below my original product review, I stated my belief that this trigger stop would put a user at disadvantage in a real-life self defense situation due to the time it would take to remove it. Since then, I have watched a couple short videos on use and removal and have practiced alot in order to get my speed closer to what it is with a factory safety mechanism. I must say, I have decreased the amount of time it takes substantially, but still not like the safety BUTTON mounted next to the trigger of my favorite and most-used rifle. However, to be fair, alot of that speed could be simple muscle memory after 40+ years of experience with that gun. If I put in the time and practice, the same thing could come into play with this device on this gun, both of which are still pretty new to me. For that reason, I have added a star to my original review. I'm sure I'll get some better with more time and practice, although age doesn't tend to enhance speed, and reality says I won't be shooting this or any other gun for another 40 years. BUT, stubborn willpower dictates that I get as tooting-shooting close as possible!ORIGINAL REVIEW: As a previous reviewer said, the $12.95 price tag for this little piece of.....rubber?.....is rather exorbitant. It's small and barrel-shaped, 7/8" long, 13/16" in dia at top and bottom and appx 1/2" in dia around the mid section. It's kind of squishy, which it needs to be in order to maneuver it in and out of position behind the trigger, where it fits snugly, preventing the trigger from being pulled back far enough to fire the gun. (Because the ends are larger in dia than the mid section, the piece is not able to work itself out of position or be too easily displaced.) Hubby and I have both tested it and are confident that it is an effective safety against accidental discharge of a firearm for which it is sized and designed (a S&W .38 Special Lady Smith snub nose revolver in our case). There is another aspect of this trigger stop that must be considered. If one owns/carries a gun like this for self defense, and your worst nightmare happens where you actually have to defend your life, there is a likelihood that you will die if this device is in position behind the trigger of your gun. By the time you pull the trigger stop out, get the gun in shooting position to aim and fire, your attacker has probably either tackled you to the ground, stabbed you, or gotten off several shots of his own before you could fire one. The trigger guard you bought to keep you safe has now contributed to your demise by putting you at a disadvantage when the time came to defend yourself. As with every aspect of responsible gun ownership, it's a fact to be aware of and a line that must be walked. For now, I'll to risk the possibility of being killed by an attacker rather than risk being shot by accidental discharge of my weapon, at least until I complete the certified training course on hand guns and gain enough experience and knowledge to feel comfortable, responsible and confident with carry and possession of this firearm.

Not good for CCW use
This device will keep the trigger from being pulled, but good luck getting it out during an emergency.

Great extra safety feature for my S&W revolver
I ordered this to be used with my S&W Bodyguard .38 Special Revolver as an extra safety feature while I carry, as well as when my firearm is with me at home. I wanted something that would allow for added safety but would still allow for quick use of my firearm if ever needed. This product is perfect for that and it fits my firearm perfectly. It's quick and easy to remove, while still providing trigger protection. The only one aspect of this that I do not like is that it gets a little caught up while I use with my holsters; the rubber material friction against the material of my holsters can catch, so I just use a little extra effort while holstering. Overall though, a great inexpensive way to add safety while still allowing for quick access.

PERFECT
use these in all my revolvers and even in some semi-autos. It is the best way to ensure safe carrying and handling of your hand gun. You just can't pull the trigger when these are in place. As for being able to access your gun quickly - should you ever need to - pushing these blocks out is no more an extra step than releasing the safety, and certainly quicker than racking a round or releasing a trigger lock. its all about practice practice practice. and safe handling.

Perfect Fit
This was a perfect fit for the Smith & Wesson .38 J Frame revolver.Needs just enough pressure to push out before being able to pull the trigger.Completely stops the trigger pull when in place.
