Can this drum be used over a propane burner, filled with water for canning large amounts of sealed jars?

Hi there. I don't see why not. The guage of the metal is pretty thick. The drum is pretty heavy in general. It is a sealed drum. So the water will not leak out of the bottom. I just used it to burn twigs.

Does it have lid that has two openings like 2" and 3/4"? One picture shows the lid, another doesn't.

This 55 gallon Open Head steel drum comes with a lid with 2"and 3/4" bungs and a bolt ring closure.

Does the solid lid just fit over the barrel, or do you have to use the bold ring closer for the lid to fit on the top of the barrel?

The lid can be seated on top closing the drum. Without the ring on, the lid can come off in heavy winds or if knocked over. I don't use the ring and just set the lid on top when not burning debris from yard.

Does this drum come with 2 lids? the description is very confusing and I need the lid with the small and large threaded holes.

My barrel came with a lid with one small and one large threaded holes.
