My work is produced in my Studio. Hand crafted original designs in wood on the outside, with mirrors lenses and objects of beauty in the inside. My workshop is located Northern Monroe County, Indiana. Making kaleidoscopes allows creativity in more ways than any art or craft. With kaleidoscopes there is the making of the outside, designing the image, constructing the mirror system, making the object viewed, controlling the light, and presenting the scope itself. I believe there are limitless innovations that can be developed with kaleidoscopes. I strive to develop new and exciting mirror and viewing systems. I like to make Scopes that relax and entertain. I've always loved making fine wooden toys. It was the start of my business 29 years ago. I'm happy to be able introduce animated series of scopes. In the shape of Robots, Crabs, Cars, Trains, and a variety of others. I still enjoy producing production scopes that provide a good value to collectors. Making larger kaleidoscopes has been very rewarding and I look forward to the next scope I make to reveal something new to my art. Producing ever more beautiful and different scopes, inventing new mirror systems and helping to reveal the positive effects of the kaleidoscope are my interests. About my larger , one of a kind kaleidoscopes The primary task of execution in large collector kaleidoscope involves lamination, intarsia, carving, and hand shaping of fine burls and woods to form a casing in which to contain the kaleidoscope mirror system and object chamber. Fine woodworking, accurate glass and mirror forming , lens placement, as well as reflective design are the main techniques involved. The process begins with designing the exterior to be in harmony with the interior thru the geometrical involvement of mirror as well as the blending of the exterior subject matter with the interior theme. A well executed art kaleidoscope will have a theme that can be seen inside and outside.
