Xamarin.Forms Essentials: First Steps Toward Cross-Platform Mobile Apps 1st ed. Edition

Wow. This is a small book but it packs a lot in. The author gets that as a new developer I can look up the nuts and bolts of how to do things. What I really need is "the lay of the land", a basic understanding of concepts, and knowledge and direction about what is available. (That has been one of my biggest problems in the development world - there is so much out there to learn and I don't know a lot of what exists for me to use.) This book is awesome at indicating where help can be found on many topics. He is great at explaining the concepts - writes like he is a friend explaining what you really need to know. So although it's technical it doesn't read like many other textbooks. This is the most valuable book I have found so far on the subject. Mine is marked up and pages are tagged and it will stay near my computer. I highly recommend this book to anyone using Xamarin.

A great book for beginning to use Xamarin.Forms. I wrote my first cross-platform app in a day.

This book is a mixed blessing. The first section covers what Xamarin Forms is with some good explanations and graphics, however there was nothing that I couldn't find elsewhere on the net. That section I can get by reading a myriad of net articles.The second section is the App, Hurrah! Something I can get my teeth into, lets build a modern app! Well no. Sure he has a wonderful app, hosted on Github, using interesting tools and techniques. But instead of building it, he just describes and outlines the code. First steps to programming? Hardly. I was expecting a nice step by step instruction manual that also outlines the structure and tools.The third section is the future of Xamarin forms. I didn't read it. So two filler sections and a nice description of an app he made.

Mi aspettavo qualcosa di più da questo libro.Pochi contenuti reali e molte chiacchiere, l'autore si dilunga troppo nello spiegare cos'è xamarin, da dove parte cosa sarà e a descrivere la sua App ma spiega poco come utilizzarlo.Utile per chi vuole avere qualche informazione in più su Xamarin, assolutamente inutile per chi vuole imparare ad utilizzarlo.

Given the normal quality of Apress publications I was expecting much more from this book. Unfortunately this book is so light on contents that it is a complete waste of time. A couple of hours going through Xamarin tutorials in VS2017 and you will already have surpassed it. Very disappointing.

Das Buch ist ok, aber auch nicht mehr. Für ein Apress Buch hat es die schlechteste Formattierung ever.Die Struktur ist gut.
