Great product for the price.
Not a woodturning offiado, but these have worked well. Seem to hold an edge for the work I do and I like to keep my tools sharp. Like the handle lengths that Hurricane puts on there tools. Have other tools by this company and cannot complain. Makes it affordable to be a turning hobbyist.

Recommend for Beginners
Hello,These tools are very good beginner tools. I am a beginner, so I'm allowed to say that. I don have one nice Thompson tool and I will say that these burn a lot easier while sharpening, feel a lot lighter while working, and hold an edge much worse. They also were all three together substantially cheaper. As such, I have to say that they are an excellent value and I highly recommend them to anyone who is just starting out!They also force you have a light touch while sharpening, which is in itself very useful.

Where is the steel?
When you look at the pictures the steel is long. The ones I got where from the used/returned warehouse. The largest sized gouge the steel was only about 3 inches long. With it being that short I only have about an inch to use. The tip was sharpened to a point that is about a half inch long and that needs to be grounded down to a usable bevel. So after all of this I really only have a half inch of usable steel before I have to replace it. I don’t know if this is the way they come brand new, and I plan on finding out but if it is I will never buy these again.Got replacement’s and these things are great. They hold an edge for a decent amount of time. I am very happy with them now.

okay starter set.
While the price point on these us good each gouge only has 2 inches of usable flute. Had I realized this I would have spent a little more on a tool with more usable flute.

Once these start selling, you will see the price go up, as it should. I am buying them up, more than I can use. I know I will never run out of good gouges. They make great gifts.And they cut wood as well as anything out there. You have to give them an initial sharpening, unlike the premium tools that cost four times as much. Don't let that stop you. Instead of sharpening them two thousand times during their life, as with the expensive stuff, you will have to sharpen them 2001 times.
