Life Changing
I am so glad I bought this book. I read it in an hour but then bought it for my sister, sent the title to my boss and some co-workers. It is easy to read, the tables make understanding the concepts easy. It has changes my focus in my retirement plan. It just gives facts and examples. Not like the other books that just try to talk you into life insurance. This is truly about information you need to retire tax free or best you can. The impacts of my pre-tax 401K on how my social security will be taxed was eye opening, one of those things you should have put together but didn't. Buy IT READ it Pass it on!!!!

Easy read.
Great book. Easy to read and follow. Really opened my mind to the way taxes will work in retirement. Know how to work the numbers will keep more money in my pocket instead of Uncle Sam’s pocket.

Take lots of Notes for Reference
What a great little book for an introduction to how social security works. I’ve referenced this book many times to try and calculate my AIME and PIA. Mr, Scanlan will give you great confidence in our social security program to realize that you really CAN retire on social security and how much of your current income is actually replaced by social security. Kudos Josh!

Useful for some
My situation was pretty much left out of this book. It seems most useful for people who will mainly have Social security and savings for retirement income.I will have 2 government pensions and my Social security will be taxed no matter what. My tax rate is very high now and will be almost half in retirement. The most useful for me is the idea of converting to Roth during the couple of years I will be retired and not collecting S.S. in order to maximize that benefit.Otherwise excellent.

Thinking you might retire eventually? Get this book now!
Having this book 10, 20, 30 years ago would have helped me a lot. It's still interesting and has me thinking what I might do to recover from past mistakes, now that I am retired. I wrote a tax bomb spreadsheet to help me with this. It's on my completely free, no-cookie site, 3nt dot xyz.If you don't get the book, take this to the bank: any time you have an opportunity to put money into a Roth retirement account, do it -- even if it means you cannot afford to contribute as much as you could to a traditional retirement account (with its tax deferral). But get the book and find out why.

Great book!
I have been looking for a book on income tax rules and strategy for my retirement years, and how Roth account can help manage my income level in retirement time. This book covers a lot of these, and reconfirms my understanding on Roth. It is easy to read, easy to understand. Highly recommended.

Worthwhile investment for understanding the benefits of Roth IRA
Josh provides many clear examples of the benefits of Roth IRA investments and how they out perform other investments at tax time. Worth the few bucks to buy the book as it provides a handy reference and a companion to Josh’s videos.
