Is it a darker brown or a light brown color?

Mine is a slightly greenish color. Almost looks a bit of a very slightly lime tone. Mine looks very good with any green color shirts or Browns. I like the greenish hue of the hat and wear it about everyday.

Is this a stiff or soft hat?

Fairly stiff brim and top. It's not a wool/ felt tow grade hat.Just as would be expected out of a 5x hat.It is very confortable to wear and one if my favorite Stetsons.I hope this helps.

How does it wear in rain and snow?

It needs to be waterproofed before you wear it out in weather.
