Here's a moderately priced coloring book that comes with an entertaining (as well as educational) twist! Illustrator Llyn Hunter has dramatically rendered — in alphabetical order — 28 prehistoric beasts as they might have appeared in their natural habitats millions of years ago. Extensive notes contain fascinating background information on the mighty Apatosaurus, the herbivorous Brachiosaurus, the "helmeted" Corythosaurus, and other Mesozoic creatures. Young amateur paleontologists are provided with a list of sources for further reading, plus helpful suggestions for coloring the drawings. Review: Unique coloring book/Info book hybrid - I would definitely say this is a unique kind of coloring book in this group. It's more like a coloring info book hybrid, whereas it has informational pages explaining all the dinosaurs and what we know about them, it even talks about colors of the dinosaurs and has explanations for things. It makes it sort of like an informational book as well as a coloring book. There are medium detailed pages with the letter and the corresponding dinosaur with that letter starting its name as an example, making it simple yet interesting enough of designs for kids and adults, mostly befitting a wide variety of ages. So the coloring pages are one page per letter, double sided, on a higher quality white paper that's definitely thicker than most typical coloring books, which tends to be a thinner, kind of brown recycled looking page. The cover of the book has kind of a waxy/plastic coating to it, making it more durable than typical coloring book covers. Although these pages aren't perforated, it feels like they should be. You could easily paint these pages and not be too worried about it passing through, if only they were one sided and didn't have another image on the other side. My two year old loves water color painting, so I just make copies of these pages on regular printed paper for him to paint over and over to his heart's content. I will upload some images in a bit, as I know when I look for books this is one of the qualities in reviews that is a real deciding factor. I took a chance on this book not knowing, and I feel it was worth the $4 for a more unique kind of coloring book that I can actually read to my dinosaur obsessed kiddo. The images are detailed enough that I think an older than toddler child would enjoy coloring in it, but not so highly detailed that your toddler/preschooler won't have a hard time coloring details or staying within the lines. I honestly wasn't expecting much out of this one but I'm glad we got it. My son already knows all but 3 letters of his alphabet, and I love that I can use something he loves (painting, coloring and dinos) as a new medium for his learning. Review: As Always, Dover Makes a Great Coloring Book.... - In fact, my only issue with Dover's coloring books is that they seem almost *too* nice to color at all. That said, we bought this for my two-year old daughter to color in. She's a big dinosaur fan - and we figured she might benefit from associating the letters (that hasn't panned out) with the dinosaurs. She has, however, learned some new dinosaur names. There are, as one might guess, some pretty obscure ones in this book. As with our other Dover coloring books, this one is so functional as a reading book for a young child that it may be years before we ever get around to using it for its stated purpose. That said, you really get your money's worth with these books. They're fine for a stand alone read, and when the kids get older, they are perfect for creative coloring.

Awesome coloring book!
Got this initially to occupy my four-year-old on the plane. My son and I absolutely love this book! I love that the name of the dinosaur is written on each page and that there is an index in the back with a write-up on each one. This makes it very interactive and educational. The drawings have a lot of detail as well. The pages are good quality too and for such a great price! If your kid is a dinosaur lover, this is the perfect book!

Fun and Educational Book.
My almost five years old grand-daughter loves this book. She loves coloring each dinosaur and I try to teach her each dinosaurs. However, I am trying to get the book "Dot to Dot" dinosaur but I cannot get it from Amazon. We all plan to see the movie "Walking with Dinosaur" on coming Christmas Day. I would strongly recommend this book to any youngsters who loves learn about dinosaur. Thank you.

Better then I expected
When I bought this coloring book I thought it would be a nice book for my kids to color in. But it is that and more! It has a really nice section that names all the dinosaurs in the book and tells a little bit about them so kids can learn about the dinosaurs they are coloring. Probably best for kids in the 6 and up age group but coloring is fun for everyone!

Fun, affordable and educational
My 2 year old son is obsessed with dinosaurs. I am a reading teacher and I care so much about his education. I ordered several of these coloring books to send to his sitter’s house- one per child. I got the same one so they wouldn’t fight over them. They study a letter a week. Each week they color one picture. The pictures are simple. I love that it’s educational and something he’s really interested in.
