It is very rare to find such a good stuffed Architeuthis! Just look around and you won't find many soft-toy squids, or indeed Cephalopoda, anywhere! This one is beautifully made. It's very detailed with an articulated mantle, syphon and beak(!), which you can't see in the pictures. He's very cute and really fun. A beautiful colour and very cuddly. I'd say he's very educational, and we've used him to teach children about the anatomy and movement of squid in general. There's a little booklet with the toy that details a bit about what he eats and what eats him as well! I was concerned this would be too small, as there is a bigger 30" version on offer as well. However he's really nice and a good size for a child. In fact, for scale, if you get him to grasp and eat Lego people, plucked from a Lego brick boat; he's huge! Terrifying! A word of warning, which other reviewers have noted: The tentacles are not stuffed. The main product picture looks like a very healthy, nourished Squid with fully cuddly, stuffed tentacles all the way to the tip. However, on this purchased item the stuffing is missing in all 8 tentacles. I can only assume they don't make them stuffed any more to cut costs, as all the tentacles are like this. Due to this, the tentacles are a bit 'thin' to the touch and in a tug-of-war between children will not last as that are fragile. So, I dropped a star on durability. All in all, it's a great purchase and is lots of fun. Just be aware that the tentacles are thin, sheath material only as per the real picture posted by another reviewer.

If you love squids and desperately need a plush squid this is honestly, truly, the ONLY squid for you. It is soft and lovable and at just the right age (length). Anatomically correct for those nit picking giant squid loving people. My five year old just received this as a birthday gift two and a half days ago and it has not been put down. It was love at first sight and all other present buying attendees were quite disappointed because we didn't open another gift. His first bike? Poo poo. We have a 22" plush squid. I'm not joking. Her one ear (ink sac) is again, correct as far as squids go, but the two double stitches to hold it to the body have already been ripped off so it is only partly attached. Anyways, I see some dirty, dragged tentacles and arms in the future but she should hold up for a very long time. UPDATE: It's been a long year and a half, full of love, and now Hari, our giant squid, is a grandma squid. She has been washed, slept with, and dragged 1,200 miles to Florida (to meet her squid family-including Molly the Mollusk: her 27 foot mom) and has held up beautifully. Her once silky soft exterior is no longer. Her color has dulled a bit, but not too much. She still has all of her arms and tentacles. Though, the stitching that makes the top fold over the bottom (right above the eyes) and gave her that additional life-like feature has come apart. Now, these were just a few stitches and I didn't expect them to last. If I was a good mother I could easily take 5 minutes to sew it....but I'm not, so I won't. I don't remember how much I paid for this thing but they were selling for around $25 in the aquarium gift shop. Well worth the $$!

My roommate’s dog goes wild for toys with lots of dangly bits that she can shake and make them whip around every which way. Unfortunately, a lot of things currently marketed as dog toys don’t seem to hold up to enthusiastic doggos hellbent on destruction. But luckily we’ve found that kids plushies tend to have much better construction and last a lot longer than the ones sold specifically for dogs. Last Christmas, after she had evicerated another one of her dangly-armed dog toys, I went on the hunt for something with LOTS of arms that she could tussle with. When it arrived I almost wanted to keep it for myself as it’s such a beautiful piece with soft plush fabric and beautiful construction. Now, a whole year later, I’m happy to report that this giant squid plush has been a resounding success. It took her a while, but she eventually removed most of the stuffing, excised one of the eyes, and amputated a couple tentacles, but this bad boy is still hanging in there! She might even like it even more now that it’s just a soft, floppy carcass of cloth tubes. All in all, if this thing can hold up to the demands of an energetic doggo, you can bet it’ll hang around a long time as a kid’s plushie.

Top notch plushie here. I got Squiddie for my partner for winter holidays as he's kind of obsessed with squids. He was so excited to see Squiddie on Christmas Eve! This fluffie friend is bigger than I expected and his tentacles feel well made. The first thing the love-of-my-life did after unwrapping Squiddie was pull the tentacles apart to see if he had a beak, AND HE DOES! This squid has a beak like a real squid! This was major, as I didn't see anything about it in the description. Also, Squiddie has big beautiful eyes (likely not safe for small kids, but not sure) and gills that look like he's smiling :) Highly recommend this squid!

It's amazing how much fun a stuffed squid can be. Our son is six weeks and he just loves it. I tickle him with the tentacles and he giggles his little head off. If I put it next to him, he will clutch it. He's still too little to sleep with it but so far, it's the only stuffed animal that he's reacted to at all. He just loves his squid more and more and it is safer than most stuffed animals because lying on his back, it rolls off of him to one side or the other and is not likely to smother. This is the most fun you can have with a squid except perhaps calamari. It is educational too. He learns about texture, plus he's absorbing words like squid, tentacle... I'm revising my review. Two years later and the squid still looks like new. I thought the tentacles would be fragile but it's held up amazingly. It's had lots of educational value from learning about the ocean to playing squid attack. Two years later and it's still fun.

This was the largest squid I have been able to find, but not as large as I would have liked. I purchased this for my daughters play room, we have an 'Under the Sea' type theme going on, and this fit right in. The quality of the construction is top-notch, seams are tight and well sewn. The fabric is well made, durable and very soft, it has held up to many washings without fade or damage. The color is a nice brick red, with a little orange tinge and tan as the contrasting underside. The details are cool, a little beak within all of the tentacles, and the eyes are life-like and stare back at you (not in a creepy way). My daughter immediately took to playing with it, putting the tentacles over her head and pretending it was her hair (think dreadlocks). Over-all a good purchase and I am happy with the value for the money spent. Wild Republic makes lots of other animals and we will most likely purchase others in the future.

I bought this plush and was pleasantly surprised with the level of detail that the designer took in creating it. it could have been a cylinder with 8 arms, and two tentacles and I probably would have been happy but that is not what we got. Instead we got two giant eyes, and a beak. A funnel and a mantle with a separate material inside. The filling is plenty soft until you get to the peak of the mantle, where a different packing is used. Still a harder beanie-baby style bead. Still soft enough that it won't hurt a child but solid enough to notice. This squid has a cuttlebone! There's no reason to go to those lengths for a plush cephalopod, but they did and I'm glad they did. A wonderful addition to our home.

Ho acquistato questo peluche per mio figlio per caso, in seguito ad un gioco tra noi lui ha "vinto" un premio e allora ho scelto di acquistare un peluche "strano" che non costasse molto, visto appunto che era il premio per un giochino di "routine" tra noi. Devo dire che quando è arrivato sono rimasto particolarmente colpito. Se lo avessi visto in un negozio ammetto che avrei pensato ad un prodotto da oltre 30 euro. Finiture ottime, la sensazione al tatto è superlativa e non ha nulla da invidiare a marchi arcinoti. Il peluche del calamaro inoltre è fatto talmente bene che fa sembrare questa bestiola anche simpatica. Mio figlio è entusiasta, veramente un ottimo acquisto.

Mi hijo es fanático de los calamares y ama este peluche. Es realista y de muy buena calidad. Tiene unos ojos enormes de plástico muy bonitos e, incluso, tiene la boca en la parte de abajo entre los tentáculos. Es suave y está bien confeccionado, sin hilos de fuera ni costuras chuecas. Es el segundo que compro porque perdió el primero en un viaje y le lloró meses hasta que conseguí y le dijimos que había vuelto después de pasear por el mundo. Se puso feliz.

Ce calamar géant est d'excellente qualité, très doux et moelleux (quelques billes dans le rembourrage à l'extrémité de la tête mais cela ne gêne pas). Il est très réaliste dans les proportions, et le détail du bec est génial ! Ravie.
