Amazing quality at a great price
These photos were taken with a Nikon D70, which is an older camera but as you can see with these lenses it takes great photos. I'm sure a newer camera would really be able to take advantage of the clarity these lenses offer.

80% of a macro lens for 5% of the price
For a Sony A58 with the kit lens 18-55mm, which by itself is useless for macro. Added the +4 at 55mm and I was able to take very good close up shots of rings and jewelry. Used "A" mode with aperture set to f/22, manual focus, tripod of course, lighting tent and daylight CFL lights. Adjustment of White Balance was required for correct color rendition. An led dazzler light was needed to give the gem stones sparkle. It provided about 80% of what a $500 macro lens would provide, plenty good enough for my friends project. Using this setup will take more experimentation on your part, as you will have to find the best combination of lens/macro filter for your camera. As with all digital images, a quick trip through Photoshop or equiv. is highly recommended to adjust levels, sharpness, etc. Overall very pleased with the price/performance ratio.

Very nice, but...
I'm not a professional photographer, but I AM a serious amateur. The lenses are beautifully finished, attach easily, and make excellent close-ups. However, the 'case' they come in is not the best idea for delicate lenses that can be scratched. The case has four large open-mesh pockets that stay closed with elastic. The lenses themselves are wide open to dust and grit through the mesh. On one of my earlier cameras, I purchased a set of Hoya lenses and each one had its own case to keep dust and dirt out until you were ready to attach/detach them. I jerry-rigged some thick zip-lock bags to put each lens in - and I fold the bag over and insert them into the mesh pockets. So. The storage leaves a lot to be desired, but you can't beat the price for the high quality of these lenses. As always, make sure you order the millimeter size required by your own camera. I have a Sony A300 DSLR and my husband, who also bought a set of these, has a Nikon D7100. We're pleased.

Vivitar quality seems to be slipping
I guess you get what you pay for. Thirty years ago Vivitar offered a quality product. Seems like their quest for a low price point forced them to sacrifice quality. The lousy threading on the filters Is either a result of poor workmanship or low grade metal. Two of my filters are now essentially useless after only a few uses. I am concerned they will damage my expensive lens if I continue to use them now.

Makes it possible to take pictures of insects which otherwise are too skittish.
When this arrived, I put my Sony HX400V camera really close to something and took a picture. Then I repeated the procedure with every lens attached. All the pictures looked the same. I got ripped off! None of these do anything! The only macro lens I had used before these was a little one I attach to my iPhone. These don't work the same way. After playing with the lenses a little bit, I figured out the trick. Use the camera zoom to go to 5-50X. Then focus on what you want. Without the lens, it is impossible to focus on anything very close while zoomed in to 5X or more. With this lens, I can focus on things about a foot or two away even at the 50X setting. This allows me to get really close photos without having to get very close to the subject. This is particularly important for insects since I would scare them away without the macro lens. With it, I can get excellent pictures from far enough away that I am less likely to spook them. It is also important for anything where the camera would shadow the lighting if you brought it too close to the subject. The +2 and +4 lenses seem to be the best for my purposes. The 10X is just too fussy, maybe with a tripod, and the 1X doesn't quite do enough. Another thing I learned is that it is easier to focus by moving the camera, than adjusting the focus on the camera. At high zoom just move the camera closer and farther until the focus is where you want it.

Watch out for lens fog!
These lenses do a darn good job of giving you a macro feel to your photos. They take a lot of getting used to, mind you. The focus range of whatever lens you put these on is going to be cut down dramtically, taking a 75-300 lens to a focus distance of about six inches. Anything further will not focus at all, which can lead to some headaches when trying to take photos of things like insects. The other thing you need to really watch out for is lens fog. When these are attached in a slightly warmer environment, like a vehicle or house, and you go outside, the space between lenses will fog up easily. However, they do what they say on the tin.

Worked with my Nikon 1 j3 with a 10-100 Nikkor lens
I wanted to try my luck with some close up pics on my Nikon 1 J3, 10-100 lens. So far they have worked great. I am able to get some really up close photos and the detail is still there. I have a tank with Coral so i wanted to get up close and share, this lens kit has granted my wish. Great product..

What did I get? Four Vivitar quality close up lenses for under $40. Trying them out, I found my camera battery was quite dean. I ordered two generic replacements from Amazon for about $15. They arrived within days. I have an old Lumix FZ50 which I like except it's macro focusing capabilities are poor. These close up lens enable me to get back to serious close up nature photography without spending a fortune on a new camera. The lenses are high quality. I am still surprised the price was so low.

4 filtri ... di qualita media ma se usati con macchine "vintage" restituiscono cio che promettono!

Okay for the price. As the magnification goes from +1 upwards, the distortion increases. +1 is good, but +4 is usable.
