It's solid.
It works great. It's big enough and heavy enough that you don't worry about the mic tipping it over. Works well with our mic and wireless transmitter.

Surprisingly worth the money. Rock solid and well made
If you're like me, you would have opted for any other cheaper base to get the job done but there isn't much of a section out there. The first thing I thought to myself when I unpacked the "LyxPro XBM-8 Microphone Desktop Base" is "Yep, this is definitely a $40 base." It has a good heft to it and everything about it says quality. I no longer regret spending $40 on a mic base.

Good solid mic base for gooseneck mic. Easy to modify if needed.
Well made, solid base for gooseneck mics with built in XLR connectors. Many people have questions about the switch. The switch is used to short out the tip and ring conductors, basically silencing the mic. It has a capacitor and resistor in line with it to help reduce pops. I did not want the switch so it was easy to cut one of the wires (tape it up to prevent shorts), so then the switch no longer functions. If I keep it that way I may remove the switch altogether and cover the hole. Also, the female XLR on the top has a unique locking feature. Instead of just relying on the push in lock to release the mic, you must screw the ring slightly with moves down to press on the locking pin. In other words, you can lock the gooseneck xlr in place by unscrew the ring so it moves up and will prevent the mic from being removed by accident.

Compré 5. Uno llegó usado, con muchas marcas de uso. Vivo en Argentina, por lo tanto me genera un problema devolver y cambiar.

Heavy, well made, and the switch is silent
Doesn't slip around, even on a sloped lectern. The box says the switch is a "magnetic reed switch" which means the contacts are sealed against dirt or oxydation. The switch makes NO audible click, at least not at moderate sound level. We have two and they have been perfect. One on a lectern and one on a piano.

solidly built with enough weight to anchor the mic without needing to be fastened down to anything. The on/off switch is very useful so its one less thing for the sound tech to worry about. (He can leave the channel on the PA on, and at a predetermined volume setting). I'm glad we spent the money on this, rather than going with the much smaller base that comes with the podium mic that also doesn't have a on/off switch on it.

I love this stand. I was able to put it on my control desk without drilling holes for the podium mic. Works perfectly. And looks cool too.

Purchased this for use with a Shure MX418 microphone. Description says this is compatible, however it did not work in our case. When the switch was ON the microphone worked fine. When switch was OFF, the microphone could still be heard, but at lower level. Also, pops could be heard when switching. We tried a dynamic microphone and it worked properly with that, so I assume it was an issue with the phantom power. If so, other gooseneck microphones may have issues as well. The unit itself feels like a nice piece of kit. Metal base is weighted enough for modern gooseneck microphones and switch feels solid. Would be nice if it had a colored switch to indicate when it's turned on though. Would keep it if we had another microphone to use, but decided to buy a dynamic gooseneck with built-in switch instead.
