The book arrived in good condition before the arrival date given at the time of order.Mr. Withers has accumulated an excellent collection of photos of the 1828 Pattern Broadsword through the years, augmented by two very rudimentary sections on collecting the Broadsword and on the care and preservation of antique swords. For someone who is interested in looking at pictures I expect this is acceptable, but for one who wishes to learn more about this intriguing weapon, which has been in continuous use for almost two hundred years and which has undergone multiple changes in detail over those years, this book is a pass, particularly given the price. Even the photos are identified in general terms and many of the details and known changes/exceptions aren't noted. Given the author's background and knowledge, he seems to have missed (or avoided?) an excellent opportunity to present a comprehensive and complete examination of this remarkable sword.
