RDP ThinBook 1130-ECH - Quad Core Processor/2GB RAM (500 GB)

This is great laptop for a basic office work, watching movies (great screen for a budget machine), and browsing the web. Anything more than that you might have to look somewhere else.But for the price it is being sold this is a very capable laptop. It might not break any speed records but it is decent. I opened 5 files in VS Code and 3 Tabs in Chrome, and it handled that just fine. This is not my primary machine for web development but it was able to handle a few tasks that I threw at it.Battery can last a whole day on a single charge thanks to the low TDP atom chip. But if are playing games that might shrink that down to a few hours. Speaking of games, you can actually play some basic games on it. I ran a few indie games like Broforce, Spelunky, Crimsonland, Limbo and Guacamelee, they all gave 60fps at 768p. You can also play most PSP games through PPSSPP emulator at 540p, I tested Tekken 6, Soul caliber and Wipeout Pulse.So let me boil it down to some pros and cons of this laptop.Pros:-1. Price (full fledged Windows machine for 10,000)2. IPS Screen (great for watching movies and videos)3. Battery Life4. Licenced Windows 10 Pre-Installed5. Decent Kayboard and touchpad6. Empty 2.5 inch slot for expanding storage7. Adequate performanceCons:-None:- if you consider the price.

For the price, the specs are good, the concept is good. It is good to have a extra SATA interface for SDD.The first one which was shipped had a few issues- charge light indicator was not working, when pressed near it, would work.- USB port on right side was not working. It was too hard to insert and remove any device- when the screen was opened or closed the charge light would flickerNow when I asked for return from Amazon, they told me it was a procedure for the Technician to visit and fix it. I took half day leave and was waiting for it, he did not show up, I had a bitter experience with Amazon service for the first time. After a lot of talking and breaking my head I was able to return it back.The second one had issues too.- the packing was tampered, the Amazon sticker tape was not doe properly, the inner box was torn.- I think the battery had an issue and the palm rest was bulging.- the right side USB port is very hard to insert and remove any device, this seems like a design defect.After this I decided to return and got the refund.

Good product ..Easy to carry..light weight...good battery life...in short its complete package for price offered...

Let me talk about the main issue first and then describe the product. The laptop was handy and met my needs. I used it for about 11 months and suddenly the battery stopped charging. It is very difficult to get through their support centre and mails were replied with great delay. However, after constant follow up and repeated reminders, the support staff replaced my laptop (total time taken: 3 months). So, that's some good news. I guess the support staff is more responsive recently.Now for the product review-----------------------------------The product is made for those on the move, but not for those who completely rely on a laptop for their day to day activities.Pros:Lightweight, sensitive keypad, good resolution. Best one for those who travel and use the laptop mainly for viewing and sending mails, drafting simple documents.Cons:Doesn't come with MS Office suite (needs to be installed separately), cannot install any other applications with high disk requirement as disk space is low.

If you plan to work on linux you may face the following problems:1. Screen flicker at lower brightness levels.2. No battery percentage indicator, and I am using Ubuntu which is the most widely used distro.3. Battery life of 2 and half hours at max, then the screen goes out. That is for while coding.But maybe better with windows. Anyways, not heavy, portable. But won't recommend it.

This is truly a good Laptop for those who wish to get the best performance rupee to rupee. At a price of 10,599/- I can’t see any other laptop in the market today that is providing such specifications. This ThinBook comes with an Intel Quad Core Processor, paired with a 2GB Ram, 32GB Storage, IPS Screen and genuine Windows 10. You can’t go wrong here for the value you are getting at the amount you are spending.Keep in mind that this is a basic computing power laptop good for performing day to day computing tasks. You will get an amazing screen quality with this IPS display, keyboard has a nice feel. This Laptop is truly for students, regular office computer usages & business people.If you are looking for more storage, you can connect hard disk on Laptop backside, but it will cost you a slightly more. Battery life is also very satisfactory and much more than my old laptop!Very happy with this purchase

Reviewing after 5 months. This is a good for nothing lump of plastic with a NON-STANDARD bios. Yes, you will not be able to install an operating system by yourself on this laptop. The memory is a eMMC chip which has a incredibly slow read and write speed (like that of a pen drive). The laptop is slow as a 90's computer and the wifi does not connect to a Dlink router. If you put a SSD hard disk, you will NOT be able to install a operating system onto it. There is no option for Boot device priority in the Bios. So technically you will not be able to boot from an external CD drive or a bootable pen drive. When RDP was contacted, they shrugged their shoulders saying the serial number on the laptop is not in their database, thus they will not be able to provide any technical support. So if you are looking to buy this, please don't. Add some money to your budget and get a laptop with a standard Bios. I am just about to throw mine in the trash bin.

The laptop is worth the price. Value for money. The performance is good. I am happy with this purchase. :)
