Generation Nothing

Ok, let's make one thing clear. I'm not sure where everybody is getting this "best since The Dark" thing. I've been listening to Metal Church for nearly 30 years and the debut album is not only their best, but one of the best metal recordings of all time. Nothing will ever compare to that, including any album art on any future Metal Church release. And you are ignoring the Mike Howe era ("Blessing in Disguise" is a pretty bad ass recording) and "Weight of the World" with Vanderhoof and Arrington reuniting. That being said, after hearing that Metal Church got back together after a retirement period, I bought "Generation Nothing" without hesitation. I must say I was very pleased. Here's my review:Ronny's vocals - Excellent metal voice. Not David Wayne (who is?) but he is more than up to the task, as usual.Kurdt on guitar - Serious? If you have to ask, you don't know Kurdt very well. This is one of the all time master metal guitar players and his riffs always amaze. I don't know how he does it. He's just as good as ever, if not better on this recording.Rick on guitar - What a wonderful addition! He rocks out.Steve on bass - What a pro. I've met him in person after a show and he is one of the coolest people you will meet.Jeff on drums - He is awesome. Kirk Arrington is one of my favorite drummers of all time, but Jeff represents.Not much to analyze. This doesn't sound like something that was thrown together because they need money. It sounds like they love what they're doing! If you're a Metal Church fan, you will dig it for sure. I find it better than the last release, "This Present Wasteland". So stop reading my review and buy it and listen for yourself!

Metal Church are back with another great metal album. Generation nothing is one of the best efforts from this band in recent years. The songs are much heavier and better lyrically than the last couple discs they put out. Some of the songs on this CD are kinda new sounding , some rather melodic, as well as some are very much like something thrashy from say the early 90's maybe. I like all the songs on this album but I would recommend checking out the title track Generation Nothing, Noises in The Walls and Close to The Bone for starters. If you are a fan of Metal Church you will love this album. I would also recommend this CD to anyone who just plain likes Hard Rock and/or Heavy Metal. It's a great album so check it out!

Solid Metal Church album with some really cool riffs and songs. While no singer can replace David Wayne's distinct vocals, Ronny Munroe puts his own vocal stamp on this album. As a Metal Church fan since their debut album in the 1980's, this album puts a smile on my face while listening to it. If you like old Metal Church or classic thrash, you'll probably like this album. (Disclaimer: I also like the album "Blessing in Disguise" and consider it one of the most underrated Metal Church albums ever, so take that into account.)

I loved this band when they first hit in the 80's! Their self titled first release and The Dark, their second, are still on my play list. I thought they could have and should have been huge. This release goes right back to their prime releases with solid riffs, very good musicianship, solid mean vocals and hooks. If you like true 80's metal Generation Nothing with more than feed the appetite!!!

Metal Church keeps kickin' with an amazing release! I have had this for some time now and thought I would post something. I have played this to several people who knew nothing of this and everyone of them said it was awesome. Incredible musicians and just great songs all around. One listen is never enough with 'Generation Nothing'. Absolute Heavy Metal at it's best all around!

Really good album. Listened to this band back in high school. I saw that they had a new cd, and decided to give it a try. There are some cheesy lyrics on here, that make you scratch your head, but overall, very impressive album. There is some great, catchy guitar grooves in this album. I give it a thumbs up!

I love this album. It's exactly what you hope for as a fan and more. Kurdt Vanderhoof's signature riffs are all over this material and Ronny Munroe finally sounds as killer in the studio as he does live. There is zero filler on this album. It's got a lot of great songs to choose from but my favorite by far is the haunting "Noises in the wall" which is too killer to try to explain but you just have to hear it for yourself. You can literally hear the walls moaning in the track! Let me also say that if you're into killer bass, Steve Unger does not disappoint here. My friend Metal Jim told me to trust him and get this cd and man was he right! I can't wait to hear this stuff live too. This album can easily stand up next to any of the band's previous material and hold it's own. Buy it or you're missing out on something very special.

Solid album, probably my favorite of the Ronnie Monroe era.

Good to see Metal Church back in the studio again, after they disbanded a few years ago.When I reviewed their 2006 release "A light In The Dark", I stated that it was a shame that Ronnie Monroe's vocals was a bit of a let down, as the album itself was excellent.Well, the five years hiatus has worked a treat.Not only do we have the usual high standard tracks, with the usual ferocious metal riffs, but this time the vocals are spot on, which makes the album a joy to listen to.It's straight forward non stop metal from the off.As the vocals are much better now, this is probably their best album to date (yes, including The Dark).Recommended for all those that still love the 80's metal scene.

METAL CHURCHS most recent album, and a corker of THRASH METAL it is, the thing with all music now is the production is up there unlike years ago when the albums sounded like they were recorded on a phillips cassete deck so now THRASH METAL is powerful like it was meant to be. They never beacame an arena act but who cares? they should have been. They don,t really come to Bririan much nowadays but get this if your into THRASH METAL of ANY ERA.

First of all it is nearly impossible for a band to recreate that epic sound that fans deem the "glory years", especially after lineup changes, Wayne's death(R.I.P brother), and Mike Howe retiring.Long time fan of Metal Church, and I caught their last show when they decided to close the church down after Rocklahoma in the US. Now Vanderhoof and company are back, and although most critics didn't give glowing reviews regarding the band for their newest release, the CD has some catchy riffs and moments where some songs send you back in time to that classic sound. From the opening song Bulletproof to the closing track Media Horse, Monroe does a phenomenal job on the album, and this album has been in my CD player rotation along with the new Death Angel since they were released. I hope that the band, although it may not be the "BIG" comeback album everyone has begrudged them for, shows a glimmer of greater things to come and the METAL CHURCH are back in form and on tour!Favored tracks:Generation NothingScreamDead CityClose the Bone
