My previous brush was more of a lower mid-tier brush. It shed bristles and was OK for building lather and applying it but lacked the springiness and holding ability to prepare my face for shaving. This Parker brush is full, soaks up a ton of water or shaving cream and massages the cream into your beard and face to soften things up to get a really clean shave. The natural badger has a bit of a wet animal smell but this ought to wear off with use and it’s really not all that noticeable to begin with- just something to be aware of. $30 seems like a good value for this quality of a brush, I’m sure if you’re willing to spend top dollar you could probably get a bigger or better brush but this one seems solid enough to feel confident that it will last. I like the look, weight and feel of this brush. The only thing that’s neglected is the poor acrylic stand. Fortunately, I already had a decent stand so it wasn’t an issue but note you’re going to want to upgrade from what ships with this. Review: Good but hurts - The quality of this baby is amazing. I just love it. But looks can be deceiving. The brush hurts my cheeks as I try to go in circles. I feel that the bristles should have been softer, not like tiny knives.
