Sticks well, comes off cleanly (gaffer's tape, not duct tape!)
Excellent product, same or better than other, brand name gaffer's tapes, but less expensive. Sticks well, comes off cleanly even from marble, polished wood, and glass. This is a GAFFER's tape, not duct tape, so there are limits to how hard it sticks, but it does better job than expected. Highly recommended FOR ITS PURPOSE.

Differences in two gaffers tape brands
On the left is this item...Amazon Basics No Residue, Non-Reflective Gaffers Tape - 2 Inch x 90 Feet, Black On the right is the item...Allstar Performance ALL14253 Black 2" x 165' Gaffer's Tape Pic 1 - Amazon Basics is 2" wide vs Allstar is approx 1.8" wide. Pic 2 - Sticky side of tape. Amazon Basics is black vs Allstar's white adhesive. Pic 3 - Cloth backing. Similar but Amazon Basics feels a little more cloth-like. Pic 4 - Another side by side showing both sides of the tape. Pic 5 - After sticking the tapes together. Some of the white adhesive stuck to the Amazon Basics tape. Adhesiveness - Amazon basics tape is not as sticky as the Allstar tape, but will probably still work well on hard flat surfaces...probably not so much on carpet. Use Allstar for that. Residue - I've used the Allstar tape for a long time. I've found that it sticks really well to many things and doesn't leave a residue...UNLESS it gets warm for an extended period of time. Don't put this in/on your car and leave out in the sun, or in your shoe where your body heat will cause the adhesive to become a gooey mess. I'm not sure how the Amazon Basics tape will do in this regard. I don't have much experience with the Amazon Basics tape, but it is cheaper and will probably serve my purposes for many tasks. I think both of these tapes will come in handy and can probably be used for many of the same tasks, but now I have a choice depending on the circumstance. If you need a stronger adhesive, go with the Allstar. If you need something less likely to leave a residue, go with the Amazon Basics.

Exactly what I needed and great performance
I had an old automatic 35mm camera that I loved using as a kid that apparently cost my parents a pretty penny back in the 80s. I had dropped it at one point and broke the clip that holds the film door closed on the back of the camera. This clip also engaged the locking mechanism that loaded the film and indicated to the camera when the cartridge was removed to clear then"exposed" indicator from the screen on the camera. I did buy a replacement camera once upon a time at a yard sale, but I just had such fond memories of this camera, and was familiar with the kinds of pictures it took that I wanted to get it going again if possible. I was able to see that manually moving the door latch switch to the closed position would keep it there, and the camera would go through the film loading process, and I could see that the camera was still able to auto focus and the shutter was functioning normally. My only issue was how to keep the door of the camera closed once I had film loaded. The last thing I wanted was to have a situation where whatever tape I used would lose its stick and the door would pop open exposing the film in the camera. I considered electrical tape first but in my experience, it doesn't stand up to constant handling and the adhesive melts from body heat making a mess everywhere. Not only would this most likely cause the tape to fail and the door to open, it would probably leave the camera a sticky mess. Then I thought about duct tape. We all know the saying, if it doesn't move and it should, WD-40, if it moves and it shouldn't, Duct Tape. But I've had similar issues with the adhesive on duct tape failing after some time, and it definitely leaves behind residue. My biggest reasoning for worrying about residue is that if I wanted to use this camera more than one or two times, I'd need the surface of the camera to remain pretty free of residue so tape can continue sticking to the surface each time I load a roll of film. Then I had the realization of Gaff tape. No residue, great stick. But then I saw the prices of Gaff tape which was crazy out of my budget. For the prices I saw, it may have been better to just deal with removing the residue from something like duct tape and hope to not have any tape failures while film was loaded. Then I came across this Gaff tape. I saw some very mixed reviews about it and saw some people mention a possible formulation change in the adhesive through the years. But at the price for the roll, and knowing I won't be using very much at a time, I decided to go for it and to just do a dry run first before putting any film in the camera. This tape worked perfectly as I'd hoped. In my dry run I made sure to wear the camera around my neck so it got bumped around throughout the day. I put it in and out of my bag. I made sure to hold the camera and mess around with it. The adhesive never melted or gave out. I had it on for about 3 or so days before deciding to pull it off and go live with actual film and not a single bit of residue was left behind on the body of the camera. For context it is made out of plastic and there is texture on some parts where the tape was placed. This even ends up covering the tripod mounting hole that I don't use anyway and the tape never lifted. I can't necessarily speak to this being used in the field for Gaffing purposes but I can say without a doubt that this tape delivered exactly as I'd hoped and I'm beyond happy with my purchase. I've shot 2 rolls of film in this camera with no issues, and I even dropped it once while it was taped and the tape didn't give way. When I run out I will definitely be purchasing this again.

Not the best I've used because it sticks so tightly to itself on the roll
Right off the bat, this is not standard gaffers tape. Possibly it's the matte surface that is at issue, but this is very difficult tape to use. The adhesive sticks to the next layer on the roll like it's never coming off. About the only way I could get a decent length was to hold the roll in my left hand and yank outward and down, HARD, with my right. Once it is off the roll, it seems to work like other gaffer tapes I've used. The matte black does its job and blends into a black surface. If you have arms like a gorilla you'll appreciate this tape, but if you have more than five feet or so of cable to secure look for other options.

Top notch Gaffers Tape, well worth it
I'm not sure what the extreme negative reviews are talking about, unless it was just bad luck of the draw. But this is excellent Gaffers tape. And not just because of the great price, it's just as good as any of the higher rated and/or higher priced options. Appearance is great, no wrinkles or defects, no residue left behind, works excellent.

Black adhesive gunk all over everything - Avoid.
I wish I had written this review a year or so ago after spending 15 minutes cleaning the tacky adhesive off my hands. It would have made me realize I wasted my money on this. It had a shelf life of about 3 months, at which time I started getting a little bit of tacky residue on my fingers after using this. But I wasn't really using it all that much, and so it wasn't until a year after buying it that it became really obvious that the adhesive was leeching out through the tape. So, each time I grabbed it and tried to use it, there was more black gunk on my hands and everything I touched. Nasty stuff. Anyway - pulled it out this week (8/25 - I had purchased this in 1/23) and the roll was almost soggy with the amount of adhesive. Definitely a waste of money. Gonna buy some 3M branded tape and hope that is as good as it used to be...

Perfect, super durable for the price. Easy to remove, and the role is huge

Really Good Quality
It's too bad the gaffer tape got smashed in the delivery causing it to be very frustrating to unwind because of the cloth material getting meshed.

Leaves no residue and works well for taping down wires at events
Nice tape, works well on carpet at hotels. Leaves zero residue. Not as high as quality as the name brand one but does the job at a fair price.

Delgada y fuerte

Impressive product, I am quite happy with it.
A friend suggested this to improve the acoustics of my keyboard switches (put it inside the switch, so the tape cushions the plastic) and it works great. It also helped with the acoustics of the keyboard. While using it, I saw how clean and easy it was to remove the tape. I just started using it for everything that I knew I would have to removed it eventually. It keeps PCB in place while I was soldering, some cables together for organization, etc Do not use for hot stuff, like inside a laptop, there are tapes proper for that.

No se puede utilizar se desprende el adhesivo al tratar de desenrollar para ser usado y la mitad de la cara de la cinta queda sin adhesivo
