Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of the 1973 debut album by legendary Welsh Rock band Sassafras. Formed in South Wales in 1970, the band signed to George Martin's AIR Productions in 1972 with a line-up of Terry Bennet (vocals), Dai Shell, (lead guitar), Ralph Evans (lead guitar), Ricky John Holt (bass) and Congo Jones (drums). Utilizing to great effect the twin lead guitar approach of Dai Shell and Ralph Evans, Sassafras released their debut album on Polydor Records in 1973. One of the great unsung Rock albums of the early 1970 s, EXPECTING COMPANY has been newly re-mastered from the original master tapes and includes both sides of a rare single as bonus tracks. This Esoteric Recordings reissue restores the original album artwork and includes a new essay.

Welsh Prog Rock
Despite having been recorded at AIR London, the sound quality of this early seventies debut is surprisingly thick and compressed and even digital remastering has hardly improved things. The songs are okay, but nothing outstanding. Moderately enjoyable if you were there at the time, but not worth trying to get into at this remove.

Ordered Thursday, arrived Saturday. An excellent CD which now replaces my well worn vinyl, plus the added feature of 2 bonus tracks on the CD.A superb band which were very popular on the college circuit. Fantastic music to listen to.As an aside, i played it in the car today and my teenage son remarked what superb music to listen to ... he was well surprised when i told him it was 40 years old!Thank you for great service.

Fantastic album, from one of the best guitar oriented ...
Fantastic album, from one of the best guitar oriented rock bands to come out of the South Wales Valley's. Remember hearing this on vinyl in the early 70's and was pleasantly surprised to see it had been re-issued, even more surprised to find out they'd reformed and were touring. Now looking forward to seeing them the next time they venture up to the frozen wastes of South Cumbria!
