Melissa & Doug Fold and Go Wooden Castle Dollhouse with Wooden Dolls and Horses (12 pcs)

I had such a hard time buying Cmas for my 7 y/o twin boys this yr, bc they're at such an in btween age! This castle was actually a last minute toy bc 1 of my boys had a few more things than the other one...it turned out to be one of the most loved toys that Santa brought!! Its honestly perfect for any age child!! My boys like it bc it can be easily transported from the playroom to the lv room (w/out a big mess) & compact enough for a an over nite stay w/memaw!! This castle holds my boys' attention for hours! The quality is absolutley superb (as w/most M&D toys). Its all in one piece, so don't hv to worry about pieces being scattered & in our case, lost. I love sitting back listening to my boys play w/this toy...its definitely an imagination sparker! Also, the extra figurines that come w/this are top quality & make an excellent addition to the toy...as do most of the other little super hero/army men/plastic dinosaurs that most lil boys hv plenty of just laying around the house already! There's really no need to buy extra play figures, imo. I dn't have any lil girls around my house, but I can see how this toy would also be equally suitable for girls & boys alike! If your thinking about purchasing this toy--do it! I promise you won't be disappointed!! Such a hit...so much fun...for such a small price! This would make a great "main" present for someone on a tight budget! My boys also got the expensive Imaginext castle, bat cave, etc...& this castle definitely beats all of those hands down, for so many reasons---in my eyes, as a mom as well as in the eyes of my 7 y/o's! Excellent, excellent, excellent toy on ALL LEVELS for all ages!

The Melissa & Doug Wooden Castle was a Christmas present for our three year old grandson. He loves playing with it, and we love the quality. It is very sturdy, and it folds with the accessories inside which makes it very convenient for him to carry from room to room or house to house. It's great for creative, imaginative play, and much more durable/better quality than other similar items from other companies. In addition the castle comes with a king and queen, and they have thrones and a bed. Two knights with horses also are included, and the working drawbridge, and the dungeon make playing with the castle even more fun. Ordered it last minute along with the Melissa & Doug Mini Stable before Christmas, and Amazon got both items to us on time. The price at Amazon was much less than stores in our area. and no shipping!! Thanks Amazon for your great customer service.

I keep buying this little castle as a gift again and again when it goes on sale because our own boys STILL play with it, even at 7 and 8 years old. One of our boys got it at age 3 or 4, and it still gets regular play. The quality is great - I love that you can throw the dolls inside, fold it up, and carry it to another room. Our boys will often sneak it up to their bedrooms to play with it. It's also hard to find a dollhouse type toy that isn't huge or covered in pink, so this was a great find. There's a bigger version as well, but this smaller one is perfect. We've had it for years, our boys play rough, and it still looks great.

This castle has been a great hit in our house. My son and his friends have played endlessly with it. We were very impressed with it as it looks great and although it is made of thin wood it has withstood 4 x 6 year old boys who are rather rough on their toys! I was very pleasantly surprised that for the price it actually came with some furniture and people - I was not expecting this and neither was my son. He was just so excited and has been so happy with this castle set. The people are well made and the horses are stronger than you'd expect as they cop a bit of a battering!! The furniture is well made too. We live in Australia so we did have to wait some time (about 3 1/2 weeks) for the product although I could have paid for faster shipping but it would have made the postage prohibitive so it was just not an option. Having said that, the wait certainly made the opening of the box all that sweeter!! My son loves it! I would highly recommend this product!

Arrived on time, undamaged and decently packaged. It looks adorable (with the outside paint job and all) and seems to be well made, sturdy. I love the handle bar on top for easy transporting. I also loved the 4 figures with 2 chairs, 1 table, a treasure chest and 2 horses. Both my 5 and 7 year old boys love and play with it often. They just got it for xmas so we have yet to see how it holds up 3 months from now. If I had to give a negative, maybe I would wish for a little latch on the side to keep it closed...but really not a big deal at all! Over all, so far I am very pleased with the purchase. I added a story book about "Dragons and Knights" which made the whole theme even better. Anyways, to buy or not to buy...you decide.

This castle is very sturdy and nice and compact. That being said however, it is a little difficult to decorate because the "rooms" are so very tiny. So any furniture or people you buy for it must be pretty small. The bed and thrones that come with it are way to big and not made to the scale they should be, but my girls love playing with it anyway. The people and horses are not so great in that they look almost homemade, so I'm always looking for other little characters to go with it. I painted the handle so that it would stay nice from grubby hands and also painted most all the rooms and staircases to give it some character and color. Then I bought some scrapbook stickers to add decor to the walls and some miniature animals too. Even little costume jewelry charms and lockets can be hot glued to the walls as "armor & shields" like a real castle.

Beware the hinge: I purchased this toy for my son for Christmas 2012 (my daughter got the Melissa and Doug mini dollhouse)and the hinge came apart not long after opening it. Customer service was great and they replaced it ASAP. However, 6-7 months later the REPLACEMENT castle has come apart the same way the original one did as well. It is a disappointment, and my son (again) is sad about it. Other than that, he played with it nearly every day and loved it, as did my daughter the dollhouse. I got the "toob" (name of product) of knights and dragons as suggested to go along and expand the imaginative play but the included furniture and figures are also very good. Update(November 2013): After seeing my review, a wonderful customer service representative reached out to me to arrange a product replacement of BOTH damaged toys. I have to give 5 stars across the board for any company that takes the time to truly listen to their customers, stand by their products, and try to make things right if they are not. Thank you! Thanks also to the peer suggestions on how to repair the hinge. I admit that I am not a "handy" person with tools but should the occasion arise I will forward the information to someone with the know-how =).

This is a great toy. My son loves this and other figures from other set fit in here just fine. Any time friends come over they all go straight for this. I got this a while ago and he still plays with it often. Love when a toy is a true hit and it doesn't light up or make noise and it all about the kids using their imaginations. It's made well and I have experienced any quality issues others seemed to have in their reviews. And like I said I've had this almost a year or so. It does fold up neatly and I like the pieces go right inside that helps keep all the pieces from getting lost. If you know a kid or have a kid who like knights get this. The other day he put his tiny star wars figures in there and we were protecting the castle from Darth vadar. Fun stuff.

Excelente juguete unisex para fomentar el juego y la creatividad de los niños. Es de madera ligera y su diseño portable lo hace muy práctico tanto para que los niños lo carguen a donde sea como para recoger después de jugar. Otra cosa que me encanta es que no ocupa mucho espacio, cabe fácilmente en un librero pequeño.

Fantastic quality, lots of attention to detail but not over fussy just the right balance for the intended age group, helping a child to fire up their imagination and to invent, not spoon feeding with gadgetry! My grandson loves it!

Loved the castle. Bought for 4 year old. Can pack all his knights inside and carry it up to bed. Carry handle a big plus.
