NARS Sheer Matte Foundation, Macao

I have struggled for 25 years w/blemishes of the acne persuasion. A few months ago for Christmas my Mother gave me Murad, which worked wonders. NO I was not payed to say that, but I would gladly pay them just for the permission to shout it from the rooftops. Everything was fine, until I applied makeup. I soon began to see, w/each foundation application [w/sterilized or new brushes/sponges to avoid cross contamination to skin} my face looked angry with me and freshly broken out before the end of the day. Lancome, Prescriptives, mineral makeup, one expensive product after another ruining my wallet, breaking me out, and cluttering my bathroom like a row of deepest regrets... until I met Mr. Nars foundation. This product is a revelation in a bottle. Excellent buildable coverage, subtle coloring to match and mimic healthy nude skin, and the best part of all, no more angry breakouts. I am a fair skin olive bi racial woman, and finding the right shade, let alone non irritating has been the bane of my existence for the better part of my adult life. Never, ever, have I had it so good in the match department. When I wear Nars, people actually compliment my skin, and not my makeup. Stunning! Mac 40/42 winter/summer, is officially Syracuse/Tahoe now! And I'm so sincerely, over the moon in love enough, that I propose marriage to my foundation regularly!

I have searched for years for the right foundation for my complexion. I went to the NARS website to get advice on the right color for me. They asked for my picture, then responded with the Sheer Matte foundation in New Orleans. I ordered on Amazon because I had an electronic gift card, so I figured I had nothing to lose if it didn't work. The color was much lighter than I usually used and it made me very skeptical. However, when I used it for the first time.....I was amazed. It blended into my skin and it truly looked like I had flawless, even-toned, not made up skin. That has never occurred with any foundation I have tried in the past. When used exactly as directed, it glides on perfectly and stays put. I have never been so impressed with a foundation as I am with this one. I almost want to order another so I don't run out. You truly do get what you pay for. This is very pricey, but worth every dime! Ladies of color, when you choose the right color with this brand, you will not regret it. Make the investment!

Muy bonito el tono,y la cobertura ligera y construible, se ve natural, pero quedé decepcionada 😞 con la botella que no tiene bomba ,para dosificar el producto y por tanto se desperdicia mucho producto con cada uso, es una base cara debían modificar ese inconveniente...🙂‍↕️😔

I like makeup made by Nars, especially his foundations, but I am not a "one brand" kind of person....If I find a product I like and it looks good, I will buy regardless of who made it. . That being said, I own 2 Nars foundations....I own the all day luminous foundation in Tahoe and Sheer glow in Syracuse. I am between NC40 and NC42. I ordered the Nars sheer matte foundation in Tahoe. I did not like this at all. I wish I could return it but I don't think seller would let me return for a refund. But shipping was great...came really quickly but look at seller because it appears that the different shades are sold by different vendors.Cons:(1) The Tahoe shade in this matte foundation is nowhere near the Tahoe shade in all day luminous foundation which I was hoping for. (I am between NC42ish (summer) and NC40ish (winter) ....I found it too bright or too strong in color...it made my whole face look really tanned...maybe it was too dark and I should have gone with Syracuse...it made contouring harder because I would have to really use a dark shade to make a difference between highlighted and contoured areas. I have never swatched Nars Matte foundation in Tahoe at Sephora so maybe it is this intense. So if you are a true NC42 and leaning towards very tanned skin, than this might work for you. But I must note...I have seen YouTube videos with women who use NC42 studio fix foundation but their skin is so fair but I guess you are suppose to match your neck/body...and it looks fine on them...(2) This foundation seemed a little thicker or not as runny than what I am used to for Nars foundation but not an issue. Not sure why this is called Sheer...nothing sheer about it....Pros:(1) Definitely matte...as soon as I put it on, I could feel it tighten on my face (I moisturized and primed face really well). So if you are looking for matte foundation, this would work. I was a little shiny at the end of the day but not in a bad way and this might have to do with using a very hydrating moisturizer and primer.(2) It is super pigmented, easily blendable, goes on smooth with brush or sponge and gives medium to full coverage (you can build it up). This is not heavy feeling or thick. However, It does not let your skin shine through...meaning someone can tell you are wearing makeup but it looks good and they might say nice makeup as opposed to nice skin;)...(3) Nice bottle but no pumpSo it seems there are more pros then cons. If the color was not too intense and was closer to my skin-tone, I would have thought this foundation was ok to good (definitely not my holy grail foundation) ...good for medium to full coverage...definitely not sheer though...I think All day luminous is much better and then sheer glow comes second and this would be last.

Oh my god. My only regret in buying this is how expensive it is lol.. I don't know if I can ever go back. I am pretty ghostly pale but also cool toned. On the rare occasion I find a foundation pale enough, it always has some weird salmon color to it. If I wanted to look red I wouldn't wear foundation.. Siberia covers ALL of my redness while keeping my dry spots at bay. It's pretty moist but drys to a demi-matte finish. The only problem is that it only has a light/medium coverage meaning it will cover blackheads and color problems, but pimples and bad dark circles might still peek through. I use the Too Faced Born This Way Concealer in Light with this foundation but they don't seem to play too well together. If you're going to wear concealer, make sure to wipe away the foundation from that spot. I know it sounds weird, but I think the formula is just too wet for most cream concealers. Additionally there is ZERO oxidizing and is stays ALL DAY LONG. Can you tell I'm in love?

This is the best foundation. It’s decently priced and it lasts a long time. I love how it gives a natural sheer glow to my skin and I don’t look like I’m wearing makeup.

Doesn't seem like it's the same formula I used to use. And for that price it should work harder!

Great foundation came early.

Great texture and formulation. Feels light and comfortable when worn.Sadly much darker in reality than it appeared on the screen which means that it is much too dark for my skin tone.

Ok do i have got the sheer glow foundation but find its for dry skin whilst mine is combo. Saw this one but its not on the Nars uk site to purchase and thought i try this. Its perfect for summer good coverage like the sheer glow and lightweight. Evens out ny skin tone and i have hyperpigmentation after pregnancy. I will purchase another couple bottles as its not on their site. Swift delivery and i am happy as a hippo lol can never find a foundation which i love and i live this one so far.

I love this foundation, I first got introduced to NARS while I was on holiday in the states with the All Day luminous foundation and loved it took great pictures but it made me get oily during the summer so I had to return it because I knew it would do well for me back in Africa where it's more humid. Then I heard about the sheer matte but NARS don't do it anymore so came to Amazon and being that I knew my color from the other one I was able to order this and it stays matte for longer and lightness of it allows may wear it as an everyday make up. The seller delivered it earlier than predicted so I was able to receive it and take it back to Nigeria with me! If you are an oily t-zone girl this is for you!
