Powerful, Reliable, and Great Value
The CRAFTSMAN CMEW231 orbital sander delivers excellent performance with its 3-amp motor and 12,000 OPM speed. It’s powerful enough for tough jobs and leaves a smooth finish. Comfortable grip, solid build, and easy to use. The dust bag works okay, but hooking it to a shop vac is better for big jobs. Great value for the price.

Happy with this one
I read a number of review for random orbit sanders, and decided I'd prefer the DeWalt; many of the other highly rated brands had patterns of problems in the reviews, and I wanted the 3 amp unit. I saved the DeWalt to a list, but when the time came to buy, it was not to be found. Not available online, not in stock in any local stores. Not sure why, but it had disappeared. Looking at reviews again, I discovered that this unit appeared to be the same product as the DeWalt (the version without speed control, which wasn't essential for my application), sold under the Craftsman brand. It performs well, does exactly what I want; appears to be a quality tool, plus a bit of nostalga factor with Craftsman. And it was somewhat cheaper. And all that said - the consistant issue with this unit mentioned in reviews was it doesn't connect to a 1 1/4 vacuum hose. It just took a moment to wrap a couple good sized rubber bands round the hose to my shopvac and insert it into the sander. It holds in place and creates an adequate seal. It's easily solved without time or expense.

Good sander
So far, this sander has done a good job for me. The dust collector does a good job at limiting the amount of dust that is generated by sanding.

Great sander.
Not a variable speed. However, works great.

A must Have item!
Couldn't DIY without it! Not too heavy. Used it on closets and cabinets before repainting. Captures a lot of dust making clean up easier. Great value and shipped quickly! Good size both sanding pads and for hand held.

Really solid with great dust collection (even just using the attached bag).
This one punches above it's weight class. I'll admit that I was hesitant to buy a craftsman tool (it really feels like their quality isn't what it used to be) but, I couldn't be happier with this sander. I've used it to prep my back porch and an old oak chair for re-staining, as well as several other small projects. This thing is great and I'd buy it again.

This Thing Is A Beast
This is the first Craftsman electric tool I had where I didn't say "wish I would have spent more for Dewalt or Makita". This sander is almost identical to the Dewalt DeWalt DWE6421 version without variable speed. I used it to take my cabinets from Oak to painted so it got quite a workout. Never a whimper. It just cruised through everything I threw at it. I mean it is not all smooth and buttery with impeccable dust collection like a Festool etc but no reason to spend more for DIY.

nice sander for the money
Probably 5 star is a little high, but nice sander for the money. I replaced a Ryobi and a Rigid. The Craftsman is much better. The other sanders seemed to jump around when placing them on the wood. If you applied any pressure (I know that you are not supposed to push down) they would stop spinning. The Craftsman doesnt spin (it vibrates) until you place it on the wood and then it starts to spin. That makes it much easier to control. I dont think that it leaves as many marks as the others and removes more wood, not sure how that happens. Negatives; doesnt have variable speed (not sure that I ever need it), dust collection is almost non existent with bag and hard to connect shop vac to. It appears to be the same sander as the Dewalt, just different color and cheaper.

Great little sander
Does exactly what it says. I love the Craftsman brand and wouldn’t hesitate to purchase anything from Craftsman. I did my whole deck with this sander and love the outcome.

Awesome sander.
For the price, this sander is amazing, it's basically the same sander as the dewalt (Make in the same factory and mold) with the only difference is variable speed on the dewalt. Highly recommend this sander.

Dare I say Craftsman is the new Red
Good sander, put it to work as soon as I got it, used it on 300 ft of wood and didn’t give me a problem whatsoever, craftsman gets a thumbs up from me.
