The Better Zoom R8 Manual: and how to create custom guitar patches!

The manual that comes with this fabulous machine is like reading Einstein’s thesis on relativity. Only hardcore engineers can understand it. It’s a darn shame that you got to buy a book to understand the Manual. To Captain Kirk : “ darn it Jim i’m Just an old country guitar player!” Well, this little book is for musicians that are only green belts in recording technology. The author is clear. He does not get into all that E=mc2 stuff. He just says be quiet. Do what I say and you will know enough to make a quality demo. He does not cover EVERYTHING in the manual that comes with the recorder. That takes a year or more. But he gives you more than enough to give you the opportunity to create, make and mix great songs. A must buy. If you get easily frustrated no book will help. But this book is the most simple book on the market. A GREAT buy. Took me from cave man techno skills to the industrial revolution.

Great little guide, but no substitute for the full manuel that comes with the R8. Mr. Menga gives you a more detailed "quick start" guide to some of the core features to get you laying down tracks fast; but keep the full manual handy for digging in and really getting the most out of this great piece of tech.

I liked this little book. The author cuts to the chase and gets you up and running with R8 very quickly. There's a lot more possible than what's covered in this little publication but if you want to record right away, this is your manual. Having said that, there's really nothing wrong with the R8 manual itself. If you really want to learn how to fully use the Zoom R8 then you really should read the manual that comes with the unit.

The format is very easy. it has given me the best understanding on how to opereate this device with confidence. Thanks.

Great book. You can tell someone who uses the recorder, actually wrote the book. In my opinion this is a good thing. Their tips are very helpful. If you buy this recorder then buy this book!!!

Direct and to the point for setting up and using the Zoom R8. Well laid out, task specific, easy to understand, with important time saving tips.Highly recommended!

Don't be fooled by the name of this book. The actual manual is far more informative, and useful. At least I didn't pay alot for it.

The Zoom r8 I received came with three thick manuals. Not one was in English! This little book gives you all you need to know to get up and running. A bit expensive but hey ho.

A very helpful book which enabled me to make sense of my Zoom R8.

This is a great manual, and has taught me the basics of recording so far. Therefore 5 stars. However, one thing I cant work out is how to get your drum pattern timed to the song youve just recorded? I recorded Guitars and Vocals. However, when I tried to add the drum machine pattern suggested in the manual, it is completely out of time and I dont know how to adjust it? Also, how do you stop it from playing after the song is over? Any advice appreciated, Thanks.

I'm a singer/songwriter and purchased the R8 to use as both a 'sketchbook' and to do some recordings.I'm a newcomer to multitrack recording and reading Zoom's manual actually discouraged me from working with my new R8 as it seemed so massively daunting - until now.This instruction book explains everything in a clear and concise way and has helped me a great deal.
