exceed expectation
I bought this book described as "Used-Very Good", sold by Jenson Books, Inc. The book I received is perfect, clean, and like new. I am so very pleased. Thank you Jenson Books. The book itself is a pleasure to read. The book presents fascinating and interesting scientific evidence of healing effects of meditation and mind training.

Being There!
I have had the pleasure of hearing live, both Jon Kabat-Zinn and Richard Davidson, so was very interested in this work. As I work my way through the book, it is like "being there" and listening to this very powerful dialogue. I find myself re-reading pages, and then turning back to the index, and looking for links and connections that add to my understanding. This is going to be on my must read list for individuals in my meditation and mindfulness experiences from cancer survivors to employees. Enjoy and grow!

East Meets West - A continuing Dialogue between western Science & Buddhism
A continuing series of books from the Mind Life Institute and Western Science (I've read two of the prior publications, Healing Emotions and Destructive Emotions). This book elaborates upon the others with more up-to-date scientific evidence for mindfulness-based stress reduction and cognitive-behavioral therapy. I also bought The Emotional Life of Your Brain...by Richard Davidson, Ph.D. and Sharon Begley. The two books are very complementary. A must read for those interested in the intersection of science and the Eastern Wisdom tradition of Buddhism.

Insightful reading
I believe in the power of our mind. Healing is an essential part of that in so many ways. Not only in a physical realm, but in a deeper mental state. This book is nothing we haven't heard in our lives, but reminds us that it is up to us to make the changes and anything is possible if we believe in ourselves. We start within us and it will start to extend like tendrils to other. Namaste.

Very good for people who have doubts on the benefits of meditation.
Interesting book to realize the benefits of meditation. Recommended for people interested in meditation to see how beneficial for body and mind is.I found some chapters old o that I've already read in other books or talks of mind and life. But its very interesting anyway, and for refreshing my memory.Regards.

) Highly recommend this to anyone
I have followed the Mind and Life Institute for many years now and after reading this book on my Kindle I purchased it and re-read it. So bought this copy as a gift for my Neurosurgeon for Christmas - - he now wants to do more research on my brain :):) Highly recommend this to anyone! And also to follow up with the other videos and books.

Should be "required reading" for thinking people
Mental training/ mind training should be a required activity in schools and this method seemscreditable to me. Those of us in the western tradition are far too "external" in our way of thinking andliving. It's no wonder we have so many physical and mental problems.

An eclectic mix of perspectives for our own potential
If you are interested in a low-bias scientific review from the worlds greatest authorities, including HH The Dalai Lama, Jon Kabat-Zin and a host of other religious, non-religious oriented and medico-scientific authorities, around the benefits of meditation and mindfulness, compassion and whether any of that 'helps' us to find 'liberty' - or happiness, this is for you.Perfectly accessible and enjoyable via the Kindle

I am sure this is going to be as good as his other books
Have not read it fully yet, but started it and as the Dalai Lama always says the right thing, I am sure this is going to be as good as his other books. Like it and will recommend it.

Good , but requires furthur elaboration.
This book is worth reading for anyone interested in the Dalai Lama. This book is a record of a panel discussionregarding the benifits of meditation on the mind , particularly regarding the treatment of depression , attended by the leading scientists in that field of study at the time. The results were very positive. While the book is an overwhelming endorsementencouraging the study of meditation , it is not a mediation manual.

Always a joy to pick up a book connected with His Holiness ...
Always a joy to pick up a book connected with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and this one is brilliant to dip into with so many interesting contributions from both scientists and spiritual people. High time for science and the deeper elements of the religions to come together and realise that they enhance each other. hhrlsa
