Avoid magnetic version if phone has curved edges, a thick case or you care about seeing your console
I think this is an excellent product, but there are several caveats that I was afraid of before purchasing the product. For starters, I purchased the magnetic CD mount version, not the mechanical mount (grip). That was my biggest mistake. Given the specifications of my phone, I should have purchased the grip style. Here are my reasons for purchase:1. Ease of mount/dismount. I have a tight morning schedule so I do not have time to be playing around with a mechanical mount.2. Decrease automotive theft risk. It's nice not to have something so blatantly associated with a smartphone (like a full mechanical mount).3. The mount is low impact, and does not take significant real estate on your dash, EXCEPT when actually mounted with your phone. Here are the problems I experienced, which I will explain in greater detail below:1. Magnetic strip mount does not come in full contact with phones that have curved edges2. Magnetic strip mount cannot effectively hold the phone if mounted behind a thick case (Otterbox Defender)3. CD mount, while convenient, effectively blocks the entire console and makes interaction with any radio functions, except for your phone, difficult4. Sloppy and disrespectful quality control by not providing full amount of magnets in mount. This is such a cheap and silly way to scam a customer. The big issue with this product was the magnetic mount strip. I have an HTC One M8, and the edges of my phone are curved. Therefore, the magnetic mount was not fully in contact with the back of my phone, and as a result, the edges of the magnetic strip were exposed. Eventually, dirt and air became trapped in these exposed spots, and the magnetic strap started to give way as the adhesive wore off. This happened probably two weeks after I initially purchased the mount. Also, they say the adhesive is non-permanent, but if you remove it, it will absolutely stain your case permanently and make it extraordinarily sticky for at least a couple of weeks. This knocked a star off my rating, since this case promises universal versatility among smartphones, but fails to account for curved phones which will not accommodate a rigid and flat magnetic mount strip.A failure and slap in the face to customers with this product is the shortcut of not fully providing all magnets in the mount. My mount came with only four out of six magnets. This definitely attributed towards the slipping of the phone, and this is quite frankly a very sloppy/disrespectful quality failure. Mounting the magnetic strip inside my case provided ineffective. The phone would fall off regularly, probably because my case is so bulky (Otterbox Defender series). The lack of magnets may have very much contributed to this issue as well. This knocked a star off my rating, easily. This mount also effectively blocks all buttons on your console, making it very difficult to turn on the radio, change the volume or adjust certain controls. If you were to simply plug in your phone and drive without radio interaction, this mount is perfect. On the other hand, if you want to change volume or power off the radio for whatever reason, it would be definitely awkward. One cannot fault the company for this aspect, however, so I knock off no stars here. I anticipated this problem, but I did not comprehend the extent of how cumbersome it would make things.I do not use the mount anymore because it's ineffective, to be frank. Should have ordered the grip version instead.

May just purchase one for the wife as well...
Just got this yesterday, and my initial thoughts are it's money well spent. The mount itself has a nice feel to it, not too heavy but definitely not overly lightweight. My car (Hyundai Veloster) is currently in the body shop so I'll update when I have it back, but have no blockage problems in the wife's Scion xB. The blades going into the CD slot are the perfect length and cause no issues with the CD player as far as making it think you are constantly holding a disc at the edge. Not sure if the mount would cause issues with trying to listen to a CD, I haven't used a CD for 10 years or more; at the moment, I do not believe it would cause an issue testing would confirm. The only problem I have with it is the steel badges, hence the four stars. I personally don't know many people at all without some sort of case on their smartphone which all but renders the smaller badge useless. The thickness of both the large and small badge is perfect, however, while using the smaller badge on my Galaxy S5 with Urban Armor Gear case (badge is on the inside of the case between it and the phone), it bonds to the mount well but when driving the phone begins to slip ever-so-slightly downward off the magnet with every small bump in the road. The small badge would probably be great for those who opt for their phone's to go in the nude, but even the thinnest of cases may still be too thick for the small badge. I've switched to the larger badge and have zero complaints. The hold is much more of what I expect. I had absolutely no slippage issues using the large badge even while on the way to work this morning and the commute definitely isn't the smoothest in town.Overall I really like this mount and definitely recommend it to anyone who thing the CD slot is completely useless. I think I will be buying my wife her own mount so both vehicles have one. If you share a vehicle, you may want to also purchase some extra Mountek badges to have multiple large badges.

I owned all 3 of the mountek's (The Snap 3, Snap + and the clamp model)I thought the Snap+ would offer some more magnets for a stronger hold because its advertised as being the 'heavy-duty version' and recommended for bigger , heavier items. Naturally I assumed it meant a stronger connection between the item and magnet. However, I was wrong. The only difference between the 2 versions is the CD mounting attachment. The Snap+ seems to be more sturdy, however, this will go unnoticed for most devices (I own an iPhone 6, and the Snap 3 and Snap+ offer the same experience). The only reason I kept it and prefer the Snap+ in my Mazda 3, is because I have to mount them with the tightening bolt placed above. If it is underneath, it will hit into my power button when hitting any bumps and turn my radio off. And unlike the Snap 3, the magnet part (when the bolt is on top), makes the phone sit much lower so that it is not covering my HUD. The Snap 3 is the opposite. When the bolt is placed on top, the phone sits higher because the magnet is also higher up. This causes the phone to hide my view of my temperature display.Overall, I love the Snap 3 better because of its other uses as a desk stand, or the ability to clamp onto certain objects (thin objects seemingly. nothing like a computer monitor). I decided to keep both. The Snap+ for my car because it is situated lower and because it grips my CD tray better, and the Snap 3 as a stand on my office desk.In either case ,I definitely recommend the magnet mounts over the clamp mount. The clamp mount always came loose and was a pain in the butt to attach and reattach. It even clamped my finger one time. Was not fun :oHope this helps.
