1602515 Dutchwest (Vt Castings) Replacement Refractory Assembly

Fit our 30 year old stove perfectly. Seems well made and has worked well since purchased.

This was a replacement for 30+yo Federal Airtight FA264 refractory that was falling apart. Unable to purchase a replacement from Vermont castings 15 years ago was surprised to find it on Amazon. This one seems to be the same material and thus far seems to be working fine after 2 months of daily use. It was slightly too tall, but it was easy to file a little material off the bottom tabs. A wood rasp was too aggressive, a flat metal file worked perfectly.

This fit my Dutchwest 2460 small catalytic stove perfectly. You want to go ahead and put the top back on, then use a small drill to put a hole in it for the thermometer (don't "poke a hole" or it may break). Picture shows the new one and the old one that was crumbling! I did have to call Midwest Hearth with some questions and they got right back with me -- Thanks guys!

I’ve owned my Vermont wood burning stove since 2005. Usage of stove mainly from Dec thru Feb maybe on avg 3-4 times a week pending outdoor temperature. Found the burn efficiency lacking over the years. Decided to change out converter for a new one. Wow, what a difference it made. Wood burns much more effectively and minimum smoke.

Was selling an older Dutchwest stove and needed a new piece of "refractory for it. This stove was manufactured by Vermont Castings, but they did not have this part available so I ordered it from an Amazon seller. This piece fit exactly and was easy to install.
