Extremely Happy with this Ceiling Pull Up Bar
The best place in my exercise room for a pull up bar was the ceiling, and this bar is absolutely perfect. The room has a 7 ft ceiling and I mounted it on two ceiling joists that were 24 inches apart. The installation template that came with the bar to show where to drill the holes worked perfect. My joists were about 1.5 inches wide and I mounted it 8 inches from the start of an angled wall (would not have worked on the angle wall, had to be the ceiling). I’m 5 ft 10 and was a little worried about my head hitting the ceiling when I did a pull up, but the distance from the ceiling to the bar is perfect (its exactly 16.25 inches from the ceiling to the lowest point on the center of the bar). I thought about mounting a 2X6 board between the two risers and the ceiling like others have done, but it just wasn’t needed in my setup (and with only a 7 foot ceiling I didn’t want the bar any closer to the floor than it had to be) I was also a bit worried about how sturdy it would be but it turned out solid. I’m 180 pounds and there’s no movement or sway at all when I use it. Its anchored into the ceiling tight. I also hung suspension bands from the bar and did a workout just to test the weight limit, and it worked fine … no movement in the bar at all. The multiple different hand positions / grips make this a lot better than the straight pull up bar I grew up with (and the grips on this are very well padded). Installation took a little over an hour because I carefully measured and used a stud finder to ensure I drilled into the middle of the joists. The following tips that others put in their reviews helped a ton: > When you drill the pilot hole with the 5/16 drill bit, make sure the depth of the hole is 3 inches (measured AFTER the bit is installed in the drill) > Don’t tighten the allen wrench bolts all the way until the very last step (it’s easy to finish that last step and attach the bar to the risers, after the risers are mounted to the ceiling) > Use a 17mm (or 11/16) ratchet to attach the risers to the ceiling (I used a 17mm drill attachment) It turned out perfect and I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a ceiling pull up bar.

Secure and versatile
I have been using this bar for about a year and a half now and it has been the central piece of my home workout routine. I love the stability and the different grip options. I also use ab straps and gym rings in conjunction with this bar, and it holds up like a CHAMP. I would read some other reviews who have advice on installation, it's not that hard, but I seem to remember using a slightly smaller drill bit than what was recommended to ensure a more secure hold. I started using this bar when I was around 210 lbs and it has faithfully held up to my current weight at 165. The padding DOES twist on the bar a bit depending on your grip, which didn't really bug me that much, but if you use wrist straps (highly recommend) it's not an issue at all. VERY happy with this bar and I will take it with me when I move and use it wherever I end up. Super solid, great product, gamechanger.

Feels solid and looks good
Was easy to install with 16 inch joists, following tip to use 1/4 in drill bit to pilot holes. Feels solid and looks good

well made but be sure to measure your joists/trusses -- supports ONLY 16" and 24" OC
This bar is solid and appears to be well made using thick steel. It includes a mounting template to assist with installation. My package arrived missing the two curved washers in the sealed small parts bag. I emailed the clearly listed support address and received a prompt reply and the washers in the mail a few days later. Unfortunately, I'm returning this item but due to no fault of it. My home is newer and done using engineered trusses. I know my roof trusses are 24" OC and assumed my basement trusses were 16" OC just by a quick eyeball. Turns out the floor trusses are more like 18" and not always exact at that (i.e., they are always perfectly parallel to one another, but sometimes it's 18", sometimes it's 19.5"). As others have said, this bar can mount on 16" or 24", but nothing else. So measure for sure before you order, and keep in mind to measure exactly where you want to hang it, as yours may not always be evenly spaced. Also keep in mind you can only mount with the main bar perpendicular to the direction of your joists/trusses.

As expected
Product is as-described and as-expected. The foam over the grips does not rotate on mine, as some reviewers have complained, and dimensions were accurate. The designers did a good job of making this bar drop far enough that you're not concerned about slamming your head on the ceiling, but kept the height low for those of us without high ceilings. The included lag bolts are really massive though. I used structural screws instead, which are stronger despite being smaller, from the extras from hanging overhead storage racks. I didn't use the lag bolts that came with those, either. They're cheaper for the manufacturer, but we have better fasteners available now.

Let me start with the good: after fixing the broken product myself
Let me start with the good: after fixing the broken product myself, it works great and I'm very happy with it. The pull-up bar is the right size, I can get good grip, the bar has the right circumference, provides good form variation, keeps my head from bumping the ceiling, and it's WAY better than the door-frame pull-up bar I was previously using. Now on to the bad: there seems to be a trend with this product that either 1) the bar or supports are bent or otherwise damaged in such a way that installation is impossible, or 2) the machined threads in the main support brackets are the wrong size, which means the bolts they provide won't thread. My issue was the latter - this is a pretty bad situation given there are only two bolts (1 for each main support) which hold the bar on - without those threading into the support brackets, all you have is a 30 lb paper weight. Rather than send back a 30 lb ripped box, I went to Lowe's, picked up some metal bonding epoxy, roughed up the contact points and bonded the bar to the support brackets. It holds very sturdy now, but a lot of work that should have been entirely unnecessary - took me an extra hour of effort to fix it. The manufacture really needs to do a better QA job - machining threads to the right specs is not that hard and it's even less difficult to check before you box the product up. If mine were the only instance I'd chalk it up to fluke, but seems a lot of the other 1-stars are pretty much about the same thing. Good luck.

Quality product. Easy to mount.
Very well made and well designed. Comes with a template for easy drilling pilot holes into your anchor studs. Soft grips on the hand grips are a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.
