Great for starting wedges when splitting firewood rounds
So, I needed a good way to 'start' splitting wedges into hardwood rounds so I could get splitting them into firewood.Trying to get wedges to 'stick' so you can whack them hard without them flying when you whack 'em hard is pretty important...flying wedge is not good for safety! Trying to get wedges to get started with a large sledge is actually pretty difficult due to how heavy and unwieldy they are, I needed a good mini sledge, and this one is the ticket!I already own the 10 lb 36" version of this maul - Wilton 21036 10 lb. BASH Sledge Hammer with 36-in Unbreakable Handle .As with the 10lb version, this is tough and rugged. I smash it in to wedges until they are firmly in place, then finish the job with the 10lb maul. Works great! After splitting up about 20 cords of wood, this is still in good shape, handle has great grip, and handle is firmly attached to the head. No notable damage.Great!

This hammer will outlive the world
This is the best hammer you can buy. Used to work for a railroad contractor that had probably 20 of these. The paint on the head chips off easily but after 4 years of abuse, not one showed signs of structural damage. Excellent value and i would say i'd buy again, but i likely wont ever need to.

Best Hammer You’ll Ever Own
These hammers are a tad speedy, but well worth the money for me. Almost no recoil in a strike and absolutely zero vibration. Lifetime warranty on the handle and they fit your hand great. I wish the handle was a tad longer, but it’s helped having a shorter one at times too. I strongly believe this is the best 4lb hammer on the market.

Excellent value and longevity
A coworker has this same hammer. As millwrights, we use these regularly. He has had his for years. It's a sturdy and effective instrument. His is still going strong and I know mine will too. If you work with steel or heavy framing, I highly recommend this for daily use.

Best Hammer Ever!!!
This is my second one... Mind you I still have and use the first one. I had forgotten it when I left town for work so I bought another. Definitely recommend buying. I constantly find myself in a baseball swing trying to get something back to certain shape.

Basically Mjölnir
The Wilton BASH is overbuilt and heavier than other hammers of the same head weight, but it's also well balanced for one-hand use, has a comfortable grip, and is about as tough as a sledge can get.Overstrikes aren't much of an issue with a 12" handle, but the steel core in the BASH will outlast just about every wood and fiberglass handle out there. More importantly, the thick rubber grip offers excellent vibration absorption, in spite of the steel core, making it a pleasure to use.I've been doing household demolition with this hammer for a few months, wrecking cabinets, countertops and furniture with ease. The BASH sledge is up there with the pry bar as one of my favorite wrecking tools, and not just because lifting it makes me feel like Thor.

Durable, meant to last.
I think this is an excellent beater. I only wish the handle was longer. 2' instead of 1' would be perfect. Otherwise, this gets the job done nicely.
