A very good, detailed history of S&W revolvers (and some early automatics). A bit lighter on the evolution of S&W gun technology.

Has a lot of interesting information about the start-up/history of this great firearms company. Good Read!

Absolutely a great history of not only the work, but also the mindset of these great men. It also gives a good overall view of the firearms industry in that time period.Once I started it I just did not want to put it down, and was maybe a little sad when I did finish. So I read it again, and picked up even more.A great..great..great read.

Just finished reading this! It's a great book on the subject, especially for novice collectors, such as me. It was first published in 1945, so real recent guns are not discussed and the reader must bear it's age in mind as many references to 70 - 80 year old guns are in the present tense, so seem odd. Great read and reference, though!!

Poorly written with focus on too few pistols. I won't buy in the future; want pictures, photographs, illustrations.

Interesting book reprinted from a much older copy. Full of good information and not tarnished by incorrect references and statements.

The original book failed to be delivered but the firm were very fair and sent a replacement. It did mean that I had to go six miles to the local sorting office to make sure that the 'lost book' was not waiting there - it wasn't.The book is OK as a general read around the history of the guns.
