No excuse for having poor audio with this Microphone available

I got this microphone to serve as a backup to my Tascam StudioI wasn't sure I would need it , but for the price it was great insurance. The microphone worked great and is more than adequate for doing Podcast.More importantly. It works across platforms.Unlike some of the people doing YouTube reviews.I got it to work just fine with the supplied cableIf you already have an XLR output unit . This is a no brainerYou cant beat the bang for the buck

Needs Phantom Power Supply for better sound quality

I had to buy a Phantom Power Supply because the mic was too low and I boosted it in Windows Settings, it was sounding like I was underwater lol.

A surprisingly nice mic for the price

First of all, I'll describe my use case. I am using this microphone connected to a mixer in a XLR port which contains a mic preamp and provides phantom power at 23V. I am then recording the line level master output of the mixer into an audio interface. The setup is important as, I believe, some of the reviews are incorrectly configured. In part this is because they provide an XLR to 3.5mm cable with the device which, if connected to a typical audio in jack on a computer, will result in an unusable low signal level. Similarly if I run it into my mixer without the phantom power (still through a preamp) the signal level is extremely low and therefore extremely noise by the time you get it up to a usable level. Even with the phantom power and pre-amp it's still necessary to appropriately mount the mic to get a decent audio level out of it.First let's look a the physical construction of the device. The mesh screen on the head seems to be well constructed and is very sturdy. The body of the mic feels very sturdy, as does the XLR connector. The shock mount is also reasonable and goes more than tight enough to mount the mic in any orientation (including pointing downwards). The only big negative is that there is a decorative ring around the middle of the mic that is not tightly locked in place meaning if you shake the mic, it rattles. With my (studio) setup this isn't really problematic and I've not heard any sign of the rattling when recording but it's worth being aware of.As for sensitivity, it is seems appropriate. I have a foam guard over the mic and a pop shield setup about 6 inches away from the mic. In this configuration it can pick up words from whispered to shouts at reasonable gain levels. If you get much further away than 6 inches away the levels are still usable with a touch more gain but at that range you much more readily pick up background noise. As someone without an acoustically isolated space to work in this is significant but I don't find it limiting.Regarding audio quality and noise, I find it produces a fairly pleasant tone for vocals. Moderate lows and mids with a decent amount of high end giving a crisp sound that can be readily compressed or EQed to taste. The signal is definitely not completely clean but I'd say it's more than usable unprocessed as long as you don't have to crank the gain too high (appropriate distance to mic, orientation, pre amp and power). Given that I tend to be fitting vocals in a fairly busy mix it is more than adequate for my use case.Overall I would recommend this mic if you have an appropriate setup to use it (pre-amp and phantom power); for the price it's pretty hard to go wrong and if I find myself in need of more I'd happily get the same again. If you are expecting a high end studio mic then you'll be disappointed, but for the quality vs price I'd consider it a bargain.

Total Piece of Junk!

I really don’t do reviews, but this one’s ultimate crap.First, it doesn’t work when plugged into a mono adapter. So you would only be able to use it on a sound system with a 3.5mm input. (Oh no, wait, USE? Well, read on...)Second, audio is complete garbage. The microphone wouldn’t pick up my voice even from just an inch away. The only way you’d hear yourself is to literally put your mouth against it and really speak up as loud as you could.Waste of money. Don’t even bother having second thoughts.
