Works well, very well...
I've used this product on rear differential gaskets, valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, and water pump gaskets and it works very well. In my mind the main advantage is the fact that it's non-hardening, which means that in 3 years when you have to dis-assemble the the engine, or rear end, or whatever, gasket removal is MUCH easier than with a hardening or a glue type product. I've also used the Hylomar spray and it works just as good as the tube, but much easier to apply over a larger area.

Works great at stopping Oil Leaks
Used this to stop that tiny drip of oil from the drain plug on my Harley Davidson. I had tried 3 times replacing the o-ring as well as putting pipe tape on the drain plug threads but still had that annoying tiny drip under my bike. Not any more, Great stuff, Highly recommended!!!

Used on Harley rocker box covers.
I heard about this product on some forums and decided to give it a try. In the past I had problems with leaky rocker box covers on Harleys where seals wouldn't entirely work and would leak oil out of the bolt hole. I heard of people using a little bit of this on the fiber washers to give an added seal. Well, it seems to be working great, no oil getting by.

Does its job
This stuff is the real deal for holding any gasket in place and a little extra insurance for sealing it. Stopped my olds 455 oil pan gasket from leaking for good!

One of the more useful sticky-puckies around
Too bad we have to order it from England now. Permatex used to sell it, in every auto parts store in the U.S. Unlike curing-type silicones, it is not a huge hassle to remove and won't squeeze out on the inside of the plumbing and make a solid blob that might clog something. Unlike the old standby "non-hardening" Permatex #2 (which they now wisely call "slow hardening", Hylomar actually does not ever harden and so it doesn't ruin the gasket and require lots of scraping to remove. I suspect the most demanding applications like hot pressurized oil, or non-gasketed surfaces, are still better served with an RTV silicone, but Hylomar works very well as a gasket dressing on cooling systems and no-pressure lubricants (e.g. oil pan and gearbox gaskets).
