Great Price and a Great Drive
Bought it 3 months ago. Main usages bit-torrent, media center(Kodi and VLC), network storage(pictures, videos, programs), personal home cloud (Tonido). I have been using this drive as a bit-torrent drive now for 3 months (heavy usage). The drive has worked perfectly, I set it on top of the PC and have dropped it(less than 24 inches) from the top of the computer onto the floor, twice and not a skip or sound. I can see this drive working for a very long time. I have never lost a file, picture, or video, unlike other drives that I have had in the past. Stress test, run 30 torrents up to 98Mbps upload and 30Mbps download, watch a video(mkv, mpg, mpeg, avi) and upload something onto it from my phone(wireless networking 100Mbps(max)). Did all that without a skip in the movie. This product would be great for a home made NAS(Network-attached Storage) system (A.K.A. one computer with all the information that other computers get files, Videos, etc from, on your Wireless/LAN Router). Works with Windows 7/8, Free BSD, Ubuntu LINUX, Mint OS LINUX, etc. PROS:: Price Works 100% of the time Storage Capacity 2TB USB3 No External Power Supply Sleek Black design Quiet, quieter than my computer fan! I can hear it when it starts to spins up, but then it quiets right down. When not in use the hard drive spins down to an idle. Hard use for 3 months and still runs like the day I bought it. I got one year of unlimited Cloud space on Amazon. CONS:: Would like to have had a longer cable. However the hard drive does reach the top of my PC case. Takes about 2 Seconds to speed up after a speed down. Is This Product a BUY or NOPE? This product is a BUY with a, I would recommend to any friend or colleague. For a small business or home use.

Great way to add storage to you Xbox One
This is such a cool hard drive - it is actually the second of this model I have purchased for one reason: to expand my Xbox One storage capacity. I bought one for my XB1 in the living room about a year ago, and having recently picked up a second Xbox One for my den (during the Prime sales no less), i decided to double down and get another one. You simply plug it into one of the USB ports on the Xbox One, and the system will prompt you, asking if you want to use it for media, or apps and games as well. If you use it for apps and games, then you need to format the drive, and it can only be used for the XB1. The process takes seconds and then you just leave the drive plugged in and it initializes shortly after starting the system each time. Quick, easy and allows me to boost my overall storage from 1tb to 3.

Fantastic Drive for all your Back-up Needs
One of the most practical devices I have ever had. It allows me to download and store all of my Steam games (275+), 150 Gb of MP3 back-ups, and I still have over 900 GB of space left. This thing is small, requires no external power supply as it gets all the power it needs from the USB port. The drive works flawlessly, has never dropped a byte of data, and is as fast or faster than the USB it interfaces with which is generally the bottleneck when transferring information. I highly recommend this drive to anyone needing a lot of external storage...you never have as much as you will eventually need. The other day I downloaded a single game that was 29 GB...they just keep getting bigger and bigger. Oh, make sure you pick up a BIRUGEAR Hard Shell Carrying Case for your Toshiba drive to protect it from any bumps or drops.

Workhorse and Reliable
100% Mac compatible (just reformat with utility disk). These are work horses and I use them for my digital files and have actually used it editing Photoshop straight from this drive. Having said this, I'm moving on to portable SSDs -- the prices are coming down and the SSDs are faster (and les scary to use). So far I haven't had any problems -- oh wait -- it normally flashes solid/flashing blue but every once in shows white when it doesn't appear on my desktop. Again, photoshopping straight off of this HD is not a problem but I'm a bit worried about it so I do so with SSDs now.

Two weeks in
My computer has been making sounds lately, suggestions that it may be soon to "shuffle off this mortal coil." Hence, my purchase a couple weeks back. For electronics, I'll typically wait several months before leaving a review -- this given the track record of so many things expiring after three or four months. I'm writing this now because I just came across an older model of the drive I bought several (five or so) years ago that still works perfectly. So, what any liberal arts guy/gal wants to know. Does "plug and play" mean I can like plug it in and start backing up files. In a word: Yes. Oh, thank the lawd, thank the lawd above!! Forget about Seagate, forget the WD or whatever drive. Both were epic fails. (Technically, it's a Windows 10 thing, but like I care???). Here's the deal. This is one of those purchases nobody likes making. It's like having to shell out $30 for the Yankee swap at work. Or the "ugly sweater" contest. The whole time you're, like, life is too short -- and $70 bucks is A LOT of peppermint lattes. I feel your pain, really, I do. But, for the novel in progress and for the pictures of the kids, you do need this in addition to some cloud storage. Those USB thumb drives only get you so far -- this is the place you can dump the contents of your computer for peace of mind.

Great price, great value, all-around useful, fantastic product!
I got this for an amazing price using a coupon on Amazon, for some reason many people online have had trouble with past Toshiba hard-drives - but this one is perfect and such a great value! I store everything on this, including back ups and I still have over a 1 TB left. It is huge! I have used this for quite a while now. It has a lovely sleek design - my only issue is that the cord falls out of it way easier than the MyPassport Hard Drives, but I prefer this hard drive to any others I have tried. I have never had an issue with this hard drive and I highly recommend it!

I love it…but it’s time to move on
Look, we all know SSD is the way to go for reliable storage, but this drive has been strikingly useful. I purchased my hard drive back in December 2017 and it still works beautifully today. I use my drive frequently — almost every day — and have experienced little to no blips. I’ve taken my drive outside of my house maybe a total of three times in the five years i’ve owned it, so it hasn’t experienced the grime and dirt of the outside world. I’ve used just about 1 TB (miraculously). Needless to say, the videos, photos, and more that I have stored on my drive are precious to me. I think it’s time I upgrade to an SSD. I think the purpose of this review is to note my good experience using this product, but noting that it is dated. Additionally, with external drives it’s crucial that you take exceptional care of them. Dropping a drive on the floor can cost you thousands of files. TLDR; drive has worked reliably for five years, but I would invest in an SSD/newer product that isn’t as dated.

PERFECT FOR XBOX ONE
I was looking for a simple external hard drive for my Xbox one because I only had 500 gbs. This 2tb Toshiba worked perfectly just plug it in and its a simple set it up in your system storage settings and your ready to go. I currently have 20 games on mine and have only 33.4% used with 1.4 tb left so you have plenty of space so it works great and it also comes with the USB cable. So basicly I'd say its perfect because you get plenty of space and works perfectly with Microsoft software on xbox because its complatble with Toshiba. Other reviews of hard drives crashing had me sceptical but I looked around and didn't find anything really negative about Toshiba. So that's why I went with the Toshiba instead of the other ones compared with it on here, I'm glad I did I defiantly recommend getting this one.

Buen disco duro externo
