A lot of lock for a good price
I recently started renting a storage space and I needed a lock that would make me feel better about leaving valuables somewhere other than home this lock is all of that and more I read plenty of reviews before buying one guy said it was one of the harder locks to pick to me means that he does this for fun and it still gave him trouble he recommended this with more high quality locks that come higher priced so that was a plus for me I also saw one guy say that bolt cutters and a sawzall couldn't get through it and it had to be grinded off also a plus in my opinion I also would like to note that the key is a full sized key it's actually about as big as my car key that actually is another plus for me tells me the lock itself is well made so all in all I feel better trusting this to safeguard a part of my life

Great lock
This lock has some nice features and security. It isn't perfect, but then again it cost me less than $30. Perfection will cost you at least 3 times what this costs (from some Euro brands) and security likely won't be worth three times what the Stanley provides.Pros: Rekeyable, antidrill plate, stainless anti-drill pins, spool pins to help deter picking and bumping. Ball bearings to resist shimming too. Allow steel shackle and a nice solid steel body to resist cutting and sawing attacks. Feels beefy and heavy in the hand.Cons: Finish is painted on and not overly resistant to scratching and rusting, so probably better for indoor use rather than prolonged exposure to the elements, or at the very least keep and eye on any rusting if used outdoors. The shackle is beefy and may not fit the application you may want to use this for (storage unit).I would buy another one and would recommend it to friends.

Sturdy padlock fits shipping container (connex box)
Very sturdy padlock. Was worried it might not fit my shipping containers (connex box, sea container), but it just fits. The shrouding prevents the lock from swinging down into a completely vertical position (see added photo). Not sure if all shipping containers have the same size locking mechanism, but this lock is working on mine. Hope to re-key this lock to Schlage house key someday, that should simplify my keyring.

A Very Solid Lock
It's massive and heavy. There's a hardened disc to protect the keyway from being drilled. There are some locks that might be better-shrouded to prevent the lock from being defeated by an angle grinder, but even the nominally better ones can be successfully attacked that way. This seems to provide pretty good value for the cost compared to some other padlocks that cost five to seven times more.

It's a good lock, but......
Recently I have purchased several locking mechanisms for securing aspects of our new rv; and I must say lock shopping is turning out to be far more troublesome than I ever imagined. I didn't think I needed to research locks on the whole, after all the concept is straight forward enough. But I thought I should at least do a bit of reading up anyway just in case. And,,,,,, Down the rabbit hole I fell. Turns out I changed my mind on what brand, what style and,,, well I changed my mind a lot.I bought this like specifically for the style of lock it is, and based off of a video review. On receiving it, I have some slight buyer's remorse. It feels and looks like quite a stout lock, but I failed to notice its security rating of 5 out of ten. After having bought the lock, I continued reading and bought some abus padlocks for a separate rv issue. They have a security rating of 7 out of ten. And they are some dang nice locks for 18 and change each. I was very impressed by all aspects. Abus is clearly a cut above the standard American crap we have. Honestly, why does master ever make locks? I've seen loads of videos showing just how trivial they are. At any rate, if I had it to do over again, I would have got the abus version of this Stanley. On the whole, I think it will be just fine for my needs, and its loads better than where I started out. But I do wish now I had gone with abus. 10 locks I currently have purchased, the abus locks are far and away the best. This lock comes on second. The master disk locks come on a distant 3rd. And the others, being tri max products, though better than what I was initially going to buy, are by far the worst of the lot. There is a lot of straight junk out there. There is a fair amount of, better stuff that's really still junk. And its surprisingly difficult to find real quality stuff. With the exception of the Abus locks and this Stanley, everything else is really only good for keeping otherwise honest folks honest. My suggestion is to do your research if you want good stuff. And check out Abus first.

What size Chain links will fit in Shackle
2 hex 14 mm links WILL NOT lock into shackle. A 14mm with a 12mm hex link WILL CLOSE into the shackle. Needless to say 2 12mm links will fit easy. The Shackle protector is about 23mm wide. But the Shackle opened is 1-1/4 inch at widest point (about 31.5mm)is. Locked usable dimensions are about 23mm wide because of shackle protector. Height is about 27.7mm. That is why no matter how I nested 2 14mm links the shackle would not quite close. I think if the shackle had been just 1mm taller you could lock in 2 14mm links. I could feel the 2 14mm links trying to catch, but just would not happen.Very Strong looking lock. Heavy body, 7/16 inch (11mm) diameter molybednum shackle. Astm Grade 5. Whats not to like. OH.....1 or 2mm extra in height.

Excellent quality for the price...no question about it.
I bought this lock to replace the lock that came with a Trimax chain/lock combo, since that lock was garbage. This lock however is the complete opposite... it's a beast. The body portion is very solid and heavy. The shackle part is pretty thick, but I don't know how good the quality of the steel is they for it. I will say this tho, I doubt you'll find another lock out there anywhere close to the quality and price point of this one in the same product.

Sturdy lock with one QoL downfall
Lock is quite heavy duty and I love it. It's great being used to lock down a delivery box outside my door, and no one has yet attempted anything foolish with it.If there is one flaw is that the lock requires to be inserted only one way since the U bar at the top cannot spin 360 full stop. Small inconvenience but I think it's worth it.
