looks, feels solid
Got the grey/blue one, but with plastic plate as shown in the non-blue photo. Fit & finish look good. Despite the plastic on it, feels way more solid than I was expecting in something so cheap, has some actual heft to it. Appreciate that it has its own little case with it. No instructions, took a little to figure out the little tool that comes with it, for re-zeroing it, apparently, which I then proceeded to do (wasn't much off to begin with, but I wanted to play with it). Action seems smooth enough. Haven't quite mastered the use of the vernier scale- could be the instrument but might be me- looks easy enough to use down to the closest .001 at least- good enough for its intended purpose as a cheap brake rotor measure. For the price & intended casual use I'm happy so far.

Excellent micrometer at a great price
My immediate impression of this Chinese-made micrometer was that of excellent quality regardless of the bargain price. It was exactly as pictured on the Amazon site. Although it did not come with an operating instruction sheet, this was obtained easily on the internet via a competitor's website. The seller did respond promptly with advice on how to obtain the instruction sheet on the internet and so I would not fault the seller for the absent of it. My initial use of this micrometer (to measure a motorcycle valve shim) found it to be accurate as I measured different areas of the valve shim, and it was sensitive to the .0001" (and subjectively slightly less, though its specification accuracy limit is .0001") accuracy specification. Calibration at fully closed position was right on at "0". The thimble movement felt smooth and precise. If this level of quality is consistent, I would definitely recommend the purchase of this micrometer.

5 star for brake rotor measurement
I just need the cheapest thing for my rotor measurement next time I change brakes. 0.01" will be very fine. The rotor will not disintegrate once you past the minimum by 1/100 of an inch. 0.0001 in is written on the thing, though I don't think you can do much better than 0.001 (or even 0.01) in real life. If you apply inconsistence pressure the measured thickness will change by that. The micrometer comes well oiled in a plastic bag, in a padded plastic case. It was the blue one as shown in the user pictures. It feels solid and precise. I don't know how to read it yet, but it should be standard like slide rule.

Decent
The plastic box broke as soon as I opened it - cheap garbage. The micrometer itself is okay enough, but is a little rough in spots. You get what you pay for, but in this case it's good enough for measuring stuff like it should. The picture is somewhat different than what I received, so the picture is of some other unit, not the one you'll receive. But it's not material - the picture is close enough and the differences are minor. It's worth $14 or so that this unit is currently priced at.

Quite a value at the price
The micrometer appears capable of doing the job I bought it for with reasonable accuracy and reliability. It even came in a nice protective hard-plastic case. But its been years since I used one of these things, and since the product came without instructions, I guess I'm going to have to hunt up a refresher tutorial on how to use it on the Web. No big deal...

Not as described
The micrometer I received is not the micrometer described and pictured. It was sold by Victor Machinery Exchange and fulfilled by Amazon. The micrometer I received has a resolution of 0.001 inches (one thousandth of an inch), not 0.0001 inches (one ten-thousandth of an inch). It is labeled 0.001 inch, not 0.0001 inch as pictured. The micrometer pictured has a vernier scale on the barrel for 0.0001 resolution. The micrometer I received does not have a vernier scale. The micrometer I received has a "C" shaped frame that has less effective depth than the micrometer pictured. The frame of micrometer pictured is more square, which provides greater effective depth. The paper wrapper on the micrometer I received is labeled: X00072FUAR VME-01 0-1" VME Outside Micrometer, .0001" NewThis may be a decent micrometer for the money, but I don't appreciate being misled.

Works OK, but not as pictured, so maybe marginally useable.
Item was not as advertised or picture, but was marginally useable for us. Does seem to be accurate, with good soft-click action for repeatability. We had to buy an accessory piece to help us with measurements, but only cost a few dollars extra. Only beef is that vendor is not showing the item, which was actually sent.

Utter bare bones micrometer.
I have been using this more often than I thought I would. Very handy for light gun smithing work. If I was working in CNC or some other precision machining operation I probably wouldn't trust it. But for what I am using it for it does the job adequately.
