Pretty solid game for the time
This was a decent but flawed game that had a cross generation release.I owned the original Xbox version first and it was pretty muddy even over my Monster component cables. The game uses a lot of radial blur, post processing, motion blur, and depth of field effects as were very popular at the time, and it doesn't work very well with the Xbox's 480p output. It especially doesn't work well because all of those effects are very downscaled from the 360 version and pixelated. The game is exceptionally dull and visually claustrophobic. It's also taxing on the Xbox's hardware which leads to a very unstable framerate. The models and textures are actually quite decent, as are the draw distances, but the colors are very washed out and game just looks like brown fuzz. It's not a great playing or looking Xbox game because of these issues. But it was a WW2 fighter game for the original Xbox with decent production values. That it was a 1:1 port of gameplay and content was a small miracle. I played and finished it and found it somewhat entertaining. Then I got the PS3 version. It came out later than the 360 version and had some bugfixes and updates included. The visuals and framerate are comparable to or maybe better than the 360, and it plays much better than the original Xbox version. I found it a lot more enjoyable on its intended generation of console. Like Call of Duty 3 the Xbox version is a small porting marvel, but the 360/PS3 give a much better experience. The game is still a bit visually obscured by the over-use of blur and post processing, but the increase in resolution of both the image and the effects used helps a ton. The models, visuals, and sound are a bit dated even for its time, but it was a decent game in an era that sorely needed a few to sell the new consoles. Notable is that it's one of the games built to sell HDMI and component, and like the first Dead Rising, doesn't display very well over RCA composite at all. I use HDMI, but it's an interesting issue from some early and much later games of the generation.Flight controls are very simplified from other more simulator-esque flight games. It's even more simplified than Ace Combat. That said, the gameplay is relatively well put together and later levels are especially harrowing and fun. The characters and voice acting are super cheesy and the overall art and gameplay direction, while decent, come across as very B-movie quality. Sometimes the game feels very premium and other times it feels very dated, even for the time it came out. Heroes of the Pacific is much better on the original Xbox, but for PS3 there aren't a lot of really great flight games, so this was definitely not the worst option.A lot of effort was put into this game but development seems to have been very rocky or lacking funds. The game turned out pretty decent though and spawned a sequel as well. I also bought Blazing Angels 2 for my PS3 and it's much improved visually and gameplay-wise. Still, these were somewhat budget games and show it. They didn't age as well as others of their generation but they're a fun once-through. For used prices these are worth your time.

Love it, after learning how to get the thrust master T stick to work
We have enjoyed playing Blazing Angels on our ps3. The only complaint is using it with the thrust master t-flight stick,,when you start on the initial scenario on the runway it is impossible to get the propeller started with the flight stick. Luckily we found a way around the problem. You have to have the regular ps3 controller attached lets say to control port 1 and the t stick to control port 2. Then after starting the engine with the regular controller(by rotating the analog stick) and then taking off you can switch to control port 2 then use the t stick.(you can switch controllers in the middle of a scenario by holding down the PS button(the button between the two analog sticks) and then it will bring up a menu where you can change the controller)

Cool WWII Flight Sim
So I just got this game and while I haven't played much of it, I am thus far very impressed with it. The graphics are astounding, the controls of each plane are unique to them and very realistic as well. The only thing I am having difficulty getting used to is the 6 axis flight method. With practice, I am sure I can become proficient at it too! however, you do have the option to use the control stick to fly with as well. This game is along the lines of the Ace Combat series, but with better graphics. Another issue I have is you have bombing missions and I am having difficulty using the bomb ring, but I am sure I can find the adjuster to tweak that out. As I said, I haven't played alot of it yet, but so far, I am impressed with it thus far.

Average Game
This game is not good, it's not bad, it's somewhere in the middle.Pros:-Graphics are pretty good.-The game is challenging to the point of frustration, but all of the missions are completable.-Bombing missions are a lot of fun.-Provides planes that are all usable. None of them are completely worthless.-Timeline and facts are fairly accurate, but they do take some poetic license.Cons:-No replay value. Once I completed the story, I had no interest in going back to do more.-Targeting enemy aircraft is a real pain.-Dialogue is stupid at times.-Help from other pilots is random at best.-Sixaxis controls are ridiculous and unusable.-Impossible to play from cockpit view.If you are going to buy it, buy it used. I would not pay more than $5 for it.

Fun flying game
It is a fun game. I am an old PS3 game player and this is the first flying game have had for the PS3. I got it super cheap so for the price have enjoyed playing the game so far. I fine it hard to maneuver the aircraft a lot of times, but I am a slow learner. I have not gone too far on the game but will return from time to time to play and progress thru the missions. Glad I bought the game.
