Don’t use a splitter, use this switch.
I have a TV whose internal speaker is of terrible sound quality. It has both a TV cable box and 3rd Gen Apple TV connecting to a single Bose Mini speaker thru a 3.5MM input jack. That greatly improves the sound quality of the TV. I initially tried using a 3.5MM splitter so I wouldn’t be forced to continually plug and unplug the two audio sources. That did not work and garbled up the sound quality. So I tried this product that isolates the audio to each source. Where a splitter didn’t work, a switch like this one worked great!

Solid Quality and Visually Pleasing
I purchased this audio input selector for an unusual reason: my A/V receiver automatically detects input, and was switching to my computer audio (which I route through the receiver) even when I didn't want it to. By running my computer audio through one input while leaving the other empty, I gave myself a simple manual mute button!(For those who might be wondering why I didn't just mute the computer, the audio from my computer actually goes to an external dock that then runs a line to the receiver. Unfortunately, the dock sends a tiny jolt through the audio cable whenever the computer wakes from hibernation—which it does semi-frequently to update notifications and such. This tiny surge is enough to trip the receiver's threshold for line-signal, and it switches to the computer input.)The stereo selector is extremely light (the body is made out of plastic), but feels solid in the hand despite this. The buttons are chunky and move solidly, with a pleasingly nostalgic "chunk" noise like that of an old tape player. The inputs are simply labeled, with a little "1" or "2" beneath each option and again below the corresponding buttons. The connectors are high quality, but beware that the unit is ungrounded, meaning that you may a very low hum if you select an empty input empty (like I do). This is no different from most other consumer-quality input selectors, and doesn't seem to impact a correctly hooked up input. In fact, I found the pass-through audio quality was very clean. The stereo selector doesn't seem to add any noise or distortion to the line at all.The box is not small. Roughly the size of a thick deck of full-size playing cards, the unit doesn't take up a ton of desk real estate, but isn't as convenient for travel as some of the more compact options out there. Additionally, there is no passive volume control or mute button, which some of this product's competitors have begun to offer.Overall, if simplicity and consistent quality are what you're looking for, then this stereo speaker selector should be your go-to choice!

Easy to install and use.
I chose this as the switching buttons looked clear and because the connections were all at the rear - so it looks neat. Does a great job and no "pops" when switching between sources.
