RHODE ISLAND TEXTILE 80528-1 Capt Jack Pet Toy, Small

This is my 2nd Cap'n Jack pirate chicken. The first was my faithful backpacking companion for about 5 years. The lazy bum hitched a free ride on the back of my pack, but I never minded as he was pretty light and rarely complained. He loved to stare off at the horizon while I hiked. I believe, deep down, he was a naturalist at heart, always awed to silence at our beautiful mountain views. At our day's destination, he would always be there to loudly squawk his opinions...OK - usually someone was squeezing him at the time, but when we had a dehydrated chicken meal, he made sure to let us know his displeasure! Cap'n Jack chicken the 1st had traveled about 200 miles in 30+ nights of backpacking and was only beginning to show a bit of wear and tear. He was a hearty mate....and then it happened. A large canine beasty with sharp teeth saw the Cap'n sitting there. If not for the patch on his eye, I believe the Cap'n would have spotted the beasty and jumped inside my pack to hide, but alas, the canine, sensing his vulnerability, came from his blind side. In seconds, it was over. Jack's heart had been ripped out. It looked like he had taken a cannon shot in the chest. Cap'n chicken would never squeak again. I mourned for the Cap'n and the loss of my long time good friend and backpacking companion, until one day, I googled "pirate chicken" and there he was, on the Amazon site. It's like they cloned the original. My heart jumped for joy at the prospect of Cap'n Chicken coming back to life. Within a week, he was at my door. His rubber fresh, stiff and new, and ready for anything life could throw at him. I'll break him in easy with a few local weekend trips and day hikes. We'll try to avoid cooking poultry when he's around so as not to upset him too much. He'll train in the gym while I'm at work during the day. By the summer, he should be ready for a week of backpacking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where hopefully, he will summit Mt. Washington on a day clear enough to look out over the Atlantic and see all his pirate poultry friends looking back at him, envious of his first of what I hope will be many great adventure.

We have two dogs & the love squakey rubber chickens. It's a lot'a noise but it makes them so happy. Ozzie is almost nine & Petety is just turning two; they play themselves into exhaustion. They're a Parson's Russell Terrier & a Jack Russell Terrier respectfully.They do love the Rubber Chickens

our dog loves this toy. She is able to get several months of fun from it. This is our third order.

I don't know what it is about this toy, but it's our Aussie's absolute favorite. He's tough on all toys, but these last longer than most (he's on his third one this year, but that's better than almost every other toy he's had!). He chews on it, tosses it in the air and catches it, and brings it to us to throw. The only downside is the squeaker is pretty obnoxious ... when my son comes to visit, he hides the toy from the dog because the squeaker drives him crazy. Maybe I'm just used to it, but it typically doesn't bother me.

Barkley, our ACD mix, would rate this a 10. I don't know why he loves it so much, it's probably one of the most obnoxious toys I've ever heard, not to mention the ungodly sound he makes while playing with it. But seriously, he loves it. He has a million toys, and he'd choose this out of all of them.

My son's dog a Boston Terrier loves to play with toy chickens it's second to her Alligator bite sleeve toy.I have purchased chickens and the squeaky did not last the bites and the kills shakes from the dog.This toy has lasted the dogs play.The squeaker is constructed to last bites.I can play tug with her and fetch and the chicken has lasted.
