INTEX Excursion 5-Person Inflatable Fishing Boat River Raft Set with Oars

Well if you are reading this you are probably considering buying this boat. Great choice but before you purchase understand this is more than a $150 boat and it has some limitations. First and foremost it does not seat 5 people. It is more of a 2 to maybe 3 adults. 2 adults and a couple of kids would work pretty well. Second, trying to row this big boat is tough. You will want a trolling motor for this boat. Third, at least in North Dakota, if you put a trolling motor on any boat, including inflatables, it needs to be registered with game and fish and you have to follow boating laws. (If you dont put a motor on it you shouldnt have to register it) Fourth, this is an air boat, it works extremely well on little to no current. I havent tried it in a river with a current yet but i dont think i want to. Overall im very pleased with this boat. It seems to be tough as the vinyl is thicker than an air mattress. The fishing pole holders seem cheap and in dont think id trust my poles using them. The boat is very portable but is pretty heavy. Much easier to load and unload with 2 people. Also this boat is rated for 1300 pounds people and equipment weight. I have at least 800 pounds in my boat at all times and it floats great and moves pretty good (5 mphish) with the trolling motor. Alright, if you are still reading here are my suggestions of what you should buy with the purchase of this boat. 1. Trolling motor mounting kit 2. Trolling motor (i used a minn kota endura max 40 thrust). The boat is only rated to 30 thrust or 1.5 hp (33lbs max motor weight according to the box) but im pretty confident you could fit a bigger motor on this if you wanted to. 3. Minn kota power center battery box. This box is great, it shows you battery life remaining and has spots for dc power so you can charge your phone and whatnot. 4. A 29 series deep cycle battery. I used an everstart maxx 29 from walmart 5. Minn kota portable battery charger. I like this charger because it has overcharge protection and is very lightweight and easy to use. 6. A 4 pack of life vests. I bought the orange cheapos but they work fine just to be legal 7. An air horn 8. An anchor. I think mine is 3 or 5 lbs. Trust me you want an anchor as the boat floats away easily when you are trying to stay still. 9. I bought a fire extinguisher. Not required by law but it makes me feel safer 10. Bow and stearn light (green/red for bow and white for back). I found a set for inflatables on amazon and they are AA battery powered. 11. An electric air pump. I bought a dc powered one so i can use the truck at the lake to power the pump and inflate the boat. 12. Industrial strength outdoor velcro. Stuff kind of flops around in the boat. Velcro keeps stuff organized 13. I would consider buying a couple large plastic bins to carry and store the boat 14. Loctite! The bolts holding the motor mount seem to loosen on their own. Using some loctite should help that 15. I am buying led light strips for my boat for better lighting at night 16. Buy dock bumpers if you plan on landing this at a dock. You dont want sharp metal or wood puncturing it

Great inflatable boat! Love the seats that attach to the bow and aft. Motor mount attached easily and trolling motor is easier than oars. Perfect size for us highly recommend

I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and I almost couldn't be happier. For about $400 I have this boat loaded up with the motor mount, Minnkota 30lb motor, Minnkota trolling motor power center (battery box), size 27 battery, and the AHP-12HP air pump. The battery was a "blemish" model from interstate battery for $45 instead of $130. It came with a ding in the terminal and 6 month warranty is all. I'd highly recommend checking out your local battery shop for a similar deal. There's plenty of room for fishing gear, a 20 gallon cooler, snacks, blankets, etc, plus 3 adults comfortably to troll around for about 6 hours on a battery charge. I somewhat regret getting the 30lb motor instead of spending the extra $40 on the 50lb. I was worried about the shaft length (30" vs 36") but have come to realize that wouldn't affect me much especially because of how easy it is to adjust the motor on the water. The 30lb motor works wonders, but on more open water (still in a small lake) it gets pretty slow driving into a light wind. Setup on the boat is a breeze. Everything fits in the trunk of my Sonata (sedan). From parking my car to getting in the water takes 20 minutes. I leave the motor mount attached to the boat, everything else bolts on in a few seconds. I have never been worried in the slightest about the durability of the hull. Usually I drag it with all my gear down the cement boat ramp. Sometimes I end up launching from the beach, grass, rocks, anywhere I can get close. There's a lot more options for me in a camping situation because I don't need a boat ramp or prime coastline to get out there. I've run up on jagged rocks and gotten tangled in weeds and sand bars without issue. It's like a boat for beginners; I honestly don't know how one could damage it under any type of normal use. How it holds up through the years in storage will be my biggest concern. My 15 year old intex pool of similar material is holding up wonderfully though. The second time I inflated the boat, the middle seat burst open at the seam. I then blew out another seat on the 3rd or 4th time. I did this using a hand pump so I definitely didn't over inflate. Maybe I can reseal them but the quality of the seats does not match the boat. The oars are sturdy enough and easy to use in the holders. The fishing rod holders are a nice idea but they never get used. They're fairly shallow. I don't trust it unless my whole rod handle fits in. I'd like to figure out a way to modify the holders to be able to use them. Maybe find an alternative to the inflatable seats. While I'm at it I'll build a plywood floor wrapped in thin outdoor carpet for a bit more stability. It would also solve the issue of spilled beer running directly to my shorts! I sit diagonally in the back left with the battery tucked in the back right. I use the seat right in the corner, not attached to the boat. This balances the weight nicely and let's me steer with ease. All in all I'd say it's my favorite outdoor purchase. The boat itself is perfect, the accessories are a bit cheap, with a little work it could be a lot more comfortable. I plan on enjoying this for years to come.

Hi Everyone! My wife purchased this boat for me as a Birthday gift... We have had it out twice now! I have made a wooden floor for it and carpeted the flooring with foam insulation around the edge of flooring. I was a little skeptical at first.. However its perfect for my wife and i and our rather large female German Shepard.. Plenty of room for all gear and even a low style beach chair for my wife. I just used my tackle box as a seat with a cushion. I purchased the Minn Kota c2 30Lb Trolling motor and the Intex Motor Mount. We have a lake here we really enjoy so we went up and set up the boat.. We trolled on speed 1 for most of the day and at times 2 or 3 Speed due to a nice lake breeze.. I purchased the Biggest Marine batter that Ever Maxx makes which is the 29 Series. A bit on the heavy side however all day trolling, we still had 1/2 capacity if we wanted to troll more! The weight of my wife and I and our Shepard and all gear it did great! It has great buoyancy due to the nice width of the boat and being just about 12 foot long made for a comfortable fishing experience.. Knowing the capacity of the boat claims 5 People, well I would say 3 adults fishing would be just right with light gear. So for the monies and space this is an awesome deal, I plan on making a trailer for it for ease..I'm just old i guess! I plan to install 2 bass seats with a swivel. Also add some wiring for lights. So over all I am very impressed with this package. The only thing i would do different is use an electric air pump, which i have is the Intex Air pump which allows for a perfect fill as it does not over inflate due to the design of the pump.. Love this little boat! Used a few times paddling and it works great and holds all my gear and plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 dogs. I went to register it with parks and wildlife and they needed to see the boat or other origin of sale (from Intex). I messaged Amazon and gave them the hull # on the back right rear of boat. They got in touch with Intex and emailed me an official origin of sale. I messaged around 11am on a Friday and had it emailed to me around 5pm same day. Thanks Amazon!

The product I received was defective and would not hold air. It kept losing air, which made it unusable and very frustrating. The item also appeared to have been used before. The repair patch package was already open when I received it, and the plastic packaging inside the box was also open. This made it look like someone else had returned the product before, and it was sent to me again without being properly checked or fixed. My experience with the seller was also very disappointing. They offered me only a partial refund, which I accepted because this is a heavy 50-pound boat and returning it would be very difficult after opening it. However, even after several days and several follow-ups, I still never received the refund. They kept saying it would be processed, but nothing happened. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience with both the product and the seller. Be careful when buying this. In my opinion, it is not worth the effort.

Some people have complained about the difficulty of registering this boat, but others have succeeded. I took the risk and bought it, and fortunately, I was able to register it without much trouble. Here are some key points to know: You don't need to register the trolling motor, especially if it's electric but you have to register the boat if a trolling motor will be attached to it. These steps generally apply to most states, not just Texas. To save you time, I'll skip sharing my story and provide you with the steps for successful registration: First, you'll need a Bill of Sale for your purchase. Contact Amazon Customer Service and request a Bill of Sale that includes the Hull ID of your boat. Although online stores like Amazon may not provide this document, any written conversation with them can suffice for most registration offices. If you can demonstrate your efforts to obtain the Bill of Sale, such as an email response from Amazon, even if they deny your request, or a chat log (as I did), make sure to print or save it and take it with you to the registration office. In my case, I didn't bring any physical documents, but I explained the steps I took to obtain the Bill of Sale verbally, and they accepted my explanation. Next, you'll need the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin for the boat. Visit the Intex website (intexcorp dot com) and click on the "Boat Certificate of Origin" link at the bottom of the page. On the subsequent screen, select the boat model you purchased (e.g., Intex Excursion 5). Enter the hull identification number, which can be found on the box or your boat (usually starting with the letter XEE). Once you provide the number, you'll receive your Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin. Print it out and remember to take it to the registration office. Take a photo of your boat where the Hull ID is clearly visible. It's not necessary to inflate the boat for the picture (in my case, the boat was not inflated). Make sure to bring the photo with you. Print the order details of your boat purchase, specifically the page that includes the amount paid, your full name, and address. You can do this on the Amazon website or mobile app. Bring all the necessary documents mentioned above to the registration office in person. Remember that most offices only accept cash or check, not credit or debit cards. Fill out the required form, usually available at the front of the office. In Texas, the form is called PWD-143. After about 10 minutes, your registration should be completed. They will provide you with a registration number, which you must print on your boat, as well as a registration sticker. They will also inform you that your title will be mailed to you. With that, you are ready to go and enjoy your boat! I hope these instructions help others since I couldn't find a YouTube video explaining these steps. The most challenging part is obtaining the Bill of Sale and the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin. While the online version of the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin may have a signature, if it's not accepted, you can chat or call Intex, and they will send it to you by mail. In my case, I used the downloaded version from their website and it sufficed for the registration office.

Bought this boat on sale on a whim. I'm happy I did. It's a ton of fun. Boat inflates in about 10 minutes in my experience but I'm also pretty strong so maybe a bit longer for smaller people. Once inflated it's light and easy to lift to the water. I loaded my family, wife and 2 small kids, in with no problem. I also tested the boat with my 6'4", 320lbs brother and no issue (I'm 300lbs myself). I would assume the listed weight limit is legit. The only issue with the boat is fishing from it isn't comfortable as it comes. It's like fishing on a balloon. Online there are tons of options for tweaking, like adding a wooden floor, that would allow you to sit on a chair and be able to properly fish. I'm buying a motor so I don't have to use the awful oars either. They're good in an emergency but using them is a mission. The loops they sit in aren't strong enough to really drive into and get the boat moving. The button clip on the oar also bangs against the loop and, if you drive hard, pops through. It's really not a good experience. Putting it away isn't a big deal. Boat deflates quickly. There are videos online that show better ways of deflating. They work. It's like folding up a sleeping bag. Once air is entirely out you just pop into a Rubbermaid container and go. The bag it comes in ripped on first use so it's trash. Get a proper container or stronger bag. It's lots of fun. Grab one and see. I'll post photos once I make my modifications for fishing!
