Star LabTop 13.3-inch Ultrabook Laptop (English UK Keyboard, Linux Mint 19.3 "Tricia)

Purchased this bad boy on July 2019 and I had run in many problem. Instead of giving up and return it Tit was my first plan) and talk to some customer support, I decided to wipe the pre-installed OS and since I only use this to run Kali, I also installed VM and installed the OS I love and enjoy using. With some issues like shutting down after installing Zoom, I think I'll stick to it. I also need to upgrade from 16GB to 32 once it's available.November 2020 UpdateBefore the computer reaches its 1 year anniversary with me, I found that screws are falling off on its on. Also, when I open the back of the computer to add additional storage, I notice the reason why the screen is wobbly. all 4 screw that hold the monitor to the body (where the motherboard is housed) is all gone, meaning broken. This computer is properly taken care which means never drop it nor bump it to shake or caused the damage. I reached out to the support and shared some photo, they were helpful; at first and after I send the photo to them I never heard from them again.(Updates) May 9, 2021There may be some issue with the tech support and perhaps because they are based in UK, but the team were very helpful. I would still stick to my first perceptions about this machine, it is the BEST for Linux. You may end up some frustrations here and now but I think most computer has its FLAWS (do not let that hold you from experiencing Star Labtop though).One last thought keep an eye for the charger because it will die for no reason no matter how much care you put into it. But overall I would say, I am a Mac user for more than 10 years and switch to this BEAST as my daily driver since May 2021.September 2022 (Update)So after a few back and forth messages with the seller, we finally come up to a plan where I need to ship the laptop to UK to fix the C cover. Now, I'm still using this to run some test for work.

Outstanding performance. Exactly what we wanted in a computer to send with our kid going off to college!

It is light, compact and fast. Programs like web browser and email client start almost immediately. The laptop had a different Linux distribution. But I could install the distribution of my choice without any problem. The support from Star Labs has been good.

This laptop is amazing. Perfect size/processor/memory combo. If you want a light, portable laptop, but don't want to sacrifice performance, this is the laptop. Great customer service as well.

I was looking for a laptop to replace my 2011 MBP running Linux Mint. I liked the build design of the MBP but wanted one that comes with Linux or No OS so that I can install Linus straightaway. Star Labtop ticked those boxes for me. The body is aluminium like the MBP and it came with the choice of Ubuntu or Mint. Having a PCIe SSD made it even more worthwhile.On the MBP getting out of standby with Mint installed was always an issue, but not on the Star Laptop.The only downside I think is that it has a MicroSD slot instead of the standard SD. So if you have SD cards lying around that you use for your DSLRs then you might have to use an external card reader or it's time to switch to microSD cards for your devices with a SD adapter.I was expecting the Logo on the back to be lit like the Macbook, but it isn't.
